Im starting a new gym this week. Im doing this because I like to eat cake, and chocolate and a load of other tasty lovely unhealthy foods. i do eat eat healthy foods aswell, just i eat the unhealthy stuff alot more ie i will buy a pack of six cakes and eat them one after another in front of the tv. i am not fat, im a wobbly size 12 so i have decided that i will join the gym so i can continue to indulge. Given that i do not drink or smoke at all and even tho i know its greedy and not the healthiest thing to be doing aibu to join the gym just so that i can indulge my habit without putting on a load of weight?

Use MFP or FoodFocus. Write in everything you eat and all the exercise you do and it will tell you if you will gain or lose.

I'm not sure it'll work - I only really lose weight if I stop eating so much and don't find the gym really makes a difference to my weight in general, although obviously your fitness and 'toned-ness' would improve.

MarriedInVegas · 14/03/2012 22:14

Thats the thing though, im not after losing any weight at all, i like my size! i just dont want to gain any with all the greedyness! i know the obvious thing would be to maybe only have a cake instead of the pack but hey ho! i have no self control when it comes to food. i love it!

In order to lose weight you need to eat less and move more, so it stands to reason that if you eat the same and move more your weight should technically not increase. I do the same. I've done 1.5 hours in the gym today and ridden the horse for an hour as well as half an hour of shovelling shit, and I have just really enjoyed KFC and 4 malt loaf slices with lots of lurvely lurpak on :0)
So no,Yanbu IMO.

WorraLiberty · 14/03/2012 22:18

If weight is all you're worried about then YANBU

However, I'd be more worried about your health if you're eating like that

Debeez · 14/03/2012 22:22

YANBU eat a cake on the treadmill. Before I had an accident reducing ability for shit like the gym and stuff I ate what I wanted when I wanted it in HUGE quantities. I was a size 8, 8stone and had very nice boobs.

I now can't exercise as much as I want, I'm a size twelve and I have to eat rabbit food to keep like this.

I miss my old boobs.

Debeez · 14/03/2012 22:22

Sorry I've had Wine a whole glass. I'm a shit drinker :o

bigbluebus · 14/03/2012 22:23

YANBU
I go to the gym because I like cake, chocolate and wine - well actually just food in general. I go to the gym and then I can eat what I like (within reason) without putting on any weight. The only down side to that strategy is that I can't ever give up going to the gym as I know I would gain weight very quickly!!!

ComposHat · 14/03/2012 22:25

This falls very firmly into the category of 'first world problems.'

ivykaty44 · 14/03/2012 22:26

you'r deluded

ScruffyTerrier · 14/03/2012 22:28

What bigblue said. I go to the gym SO I can eat what I like (again, within reason. No binging). YANBU.

AngryFeet · 14/03/2012 22:29

You will have to do a lot of exercise if you eating crap like that every day. If I run for an hour I would burn off about 400 cals. Not much food at all - probably a slice and a half of pizza. Oh and the cals they say you have burnt on the machines at the gym are generally bollocks.

rhondajean · 14/03/2012 22:29

I do this too, but I know if I could do clean eating I would look amazing rather than just treading water.

PooPooInMyToes · 14/03/2012 22:29

Roger. I did wonder for a moment if Ridden the Horse was a euphemism!

mablemurple · 14/03/2012 22:34

You may get toned up, you probably won't lose weight but if you continue to eat a load of sugary and fatty food you could still be fat on the inside. Far better to make the effort to re-educate your palate and have these types of foods only occasionally. You will then be able to enjoy them long after your enthusiasm/time/money for the gym has waned.

MarriedInVegas · 14/03/2012 23:33

Thank you for replies! yes there is no doubt i am deluded Grin nice to know that a few of you share the same logic as me though! I think i will TRY to cut down on a few things for the sake of said inner health!
