To ask other mums on MN not to use the F word?

raspberrypi · 13/03/2012 08:52

I am a newbie. I find that F word is peppered in a lot of the threads. I used to swear a lot but I have stopped completely because I realize it's common, and makes a woman sound undignified. Is it too much, ladies, to ask you not to use F-ing thsi and F-ing that? Can't we adults discuss things without resorting to sailor language? Thank you.

Whats wrong with Common? Confused

D0oinMeCleanin · 13/03/2012 09:42

What about the fathers? I guess they can swear all they like, huh? Sexist much?

TheBigJessie · 13/03/2012 09:43

I just won a bet with myself for your last post.

Cliché!

JasperJohns · 13/03/2012 09:43

I'd love for it not to be, but this has got to be a (fucking) wind up!

1/10 OP Grin

Who are you people?

I'm Fucky McFucknut of Fuckington Way, Fuckyoushire.

Pleased to meet you :)

Kewcumber · 13/03/2012 09:44

I know a black gay mother. I'm confused whether she is exempted from the Raspberrypi Rules of Swearing or not.

Elfontheedge · 13/03/2012 09:44

Pistonheads?

I'm very fucking ladylike and have a broad grasp of the English language you poltroon!

RoxyRobin · 13/03/2012 09:44

Check out 'The Lady' (website link posted ^) - interview with Prue Leith who answers the question "Which phrase do you most overuse?" with "The 'f' word"! Grin

ViviPru · 13/03/2012 09:44

Depends, Kew, can she rig a mainsail?

nenevomito · 13/03/2012 09:45

I'm so well educated I practically shit degrees. That's why I don't need to censor the word FUCK to pretend to be.

The wonderful thing about fucking
Is fuck is a wonderful thing... Etc

catgirl1976 · 13/03/2012 09:45

kewcumbe - its (ironically) very common to say someone is common. Only a common person would do so. :)

One of those lovely British quirky class marker words like serviette / settee / toilet etc

tantrumsandballoons · 13/03/2012 09:45

"supposedly" a mum??

No, I really AM a mum of 3

TheBigJessie · 13/03/2012 09:45

I love MN, because of the language that isn't accepted. On other parenting forums, you see nasty words that genuinely hurt people, and foster discrimination.

Words mocking homosexuals, words mocking the disabled. But not here.

I do hate the c-word and t-word, but I accept that others don't agree.

Valpollicella · 13/03/2012 09:45

Woo! And now she feels sorry for our children

Vaffanculo

(I presume swearing in other languages is ok?)

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 13/03/2012 09:46

ViviPru, 'fucked to meet you', surely? Grin

Clockingout · 13/03/2012 09:46

maryz thankyou, both for new username idea and for further elaboration! Marvellous.

ShowOfHands · 13/03/2012 09:46

OP you forgot 'anyway I'm going to go and actually interact with my offspring unlike you so called mothers etc'.

Honestly, trolls new posters with anti-fuck agendas are disappointingly lax these days.

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 13/03/2012 09:46

But fucking is a great word and a fine activity to boot.

If it wern't for all the fucking none of us would be mothers.

Or were your children created through the fine art of 'babydancing'?Grin

ljgibbs · 13/03/2012 09:47

I'd rather swear on here than at my kids and thats what most of us do OP.

This forum is a release for most of us 'mums' to be able to rant, rave and swear say what we want without having to say it in the real world.

PurplePidjin · 13/03/2012 09:47

Yep, I may have introduced them to the discussion but I was at least courteous enough to remember it's black people and gay people

See, OP? You don't have to swear to be unutterably fucking offensive Hmm

ViviPru · 13/03/2012 09:47

Oh fuck it, of course. Fucked to meet you too Lady :)

PeppermintPasty · 13/03/2012 09:47

Don't go OP, stay among the common swine.

They must be educated.

I'm a cut above too.

-I prefer to say "Feck Orf".

Posh, you see.

redrubyshoes · 13/03/2012 09:47

Raspberry

The second I read your OP I knew exactly what the repsonse would be to it.

MNetters have held my hand through the illness and subsequent death of my father, have made me cry and have made with howl with laughter and have helped me in a gazillion ways and have been kind, warm and generous and if the shit ever hits the fan in your life and you need help, post on Mumsnet - you will be helped.

They also don't like being patronised and being told what to do by someone new to the site. Wink
