to want to scream full volume at this person for calling me lazy?

They think I am lazy because I am a full time mum. I also work part time but work at night. I am unable to work during the day due to not being able to cover the cost of childcare. It's very tiring as it limits the sleep I can get.

They on the other hand get free childcare.. They have had free childcare for 10 years from a mutual family member who won't even look after my children in an emergency yet will look after theirs so they can go cycling, romantic weekends away etc.

I think they are so lucky to get the help they do and so annoyed that a, they don't appreciate it and b, they call me lazy when I am doing my best without a fraction of the help they get.

On top of this they do the whole "oh we've got it so hard" routine!

Tell them to eff off. If you are happy with your life and how you do things then stuff them, their opinion doesn't matter a jot

GrumpyPlops · 12/03/2012 17:03

why dont they piss off and stick a feather up their arse?

good for you for working so hard and coping as well as you do

I don't blame you at all for wanting to scream at them.

Have you seen Gladiator?

Russell Crowe is chained to a wall and someone says something that upsets him, possibly about his childcare and parenting choices and he strains against the chains like they are going to break - all furious he is, thats me when people judge and compare when they have it all on a plate.

GGGGRRRRR

Mmm Russell Crowe

Shock that really does not sound lazy to me OP...sounds like bloody hard work!! I would be wound up too!

TheresASpareChairOverThere · 12/03/2012 18:00

Shit, if that's what's classed as lazy I'm seriously worried! Of course you're not lazy, some people are just shitheads. I have had to explain to DS1 recently that sadly, some people are just NOT VERY NICE.

Sorry you have such a lot on, you sound bloody heroic to me. If I knew you I would make you a Brew .

AThingInYourLife · 12/03/2012 18:09

You look after children all day AND THEN go to work?

That's like having two jobs!

Try not to get wound up by what this complete eejit has said.

It really isn't worth giving brain time to.

Theresasparechair. I think you are right that they are not very nice. They are one of those people who everyone likes though as they are funny and nice on the surface . . . and then they come out with these things! . . .

No one else in the family seems to notice or just least turns a blind eye.

Athing! Exactly! I have two jobs! They don't see it though. They drop their kids off with people who love them and who they know will take really good care of them and THEN go off to work. That seems such a luxury to me.

What adds to it is that they clearly think my job isn't a PROPER job because i do a job which they don't understand. I've explained it to them but they don't get it.
