actually, i;ve had ther weekend to calm down a bit, so am not too furious now.

dd1 (12yrs old) was purposely attacked on friday at school with aerosol cans by 14/15yr old boys to try and bring on an asthma attack.

the school havent contacted me about the incident.

I have called them thhis morning to try and get to the bottom of what happened and how they are dealing with the incident.

thankfully dd1 amanaged to control her asthma with extra doses of her inhaler, but she was feeling quite rough friday night due to the extra doses taken.

i am fuming.

What did the school say when you spoke to them?

Perhaps they school didn't know about it and so couldn't contact you .

Not surprised you're cross. Hope you're DD is feeling better now.

WorraLiberty · 12/03/2012 10:48

Of course YANBU

What a dreadful thing to happen Sad

Why on earth didn't the school contact you and what the hell were they doing with aerosols in school? Shock

Hope your DD's ok.

trustissues75 · 12/03/2012 10:48

Er, I'd be more than furious. Kids at the school taking advantage of a serious health condition and thinking it's funny and the school didn't contact you?!?! (I'm assuming dd did inform the teachers) This is serious...their actions could have had serious consequences...the teachers should be treating this matter with urgency.

TroublesomeEx · 12/03/2012 10:48

your not you're obviously! Blush

Starwisher · 12/03/2012 10:49

That's awful I'm so sorry

Or you certain the school were even aware it happened though? Did a teacher intervene, if not did dd report it?

misdee · 12/03/2012 10:50

school do know. they were made aware of the incident at the time by dd and her friends.

i have had NO contact from the school. i have phoned and asked to speak to HOY today, so far no call, but expect that is because HOY is probably in lessons.

dd1 is ok now, have done the usual asthma dose increases/decreases over the weekend after an attack. she has gone to school as normal.

It sounds like our child was assaulted by kids above the age of criminal responsibility. Go to the police and report it as such then tell the school that that is what you have done - I bet you'll get a response then. Hope your DD is ok - how awful for her.

misdee · 12/03/2012 10:51

i have also talked to local police about this.

OP posts:
PurpleRomanesco · 12/03/2012 10:52

YANBU.

They did this with the intention to make her have an asthma attack? I would consider that assault. What if she hadn't managed to get it under control?

Did your DD report it?

misdee · 12/03/2012 10:52

i have crime reference number etc. but police wqont get involved until after shcool ave done their investigation. but seeing as they havent even contacted me, i am losing faith.

OP posts:
Starwisher · 12/03/2012 10:53

Well in that case the school are behaving appallingly. What example are they setting?that attacking other children is not really a big deal?

I would be furious and am in your behalf. Keep pursuing until they deal with this adequately

PurpleRomanesco · 12/03/2012 10:53

X post. Go straight to the Head teacher.

What did the police say?

TroublesomeEx · 12/03/2012 10:53

Well in that case, I'd be requesting a meeting in person. It's too easy to be fobbed off over the phone. Yes, they probably are in lessons, but I would expect a call back at lunchtime. If you're not happy with the outcome then put this in writing to the school (it gets put on the file then).

Hope you hear back from them soon.

TroublesomeEx · 12/03/2012 10:54

Yes I think I would go to the HT if you don't hear from the HOY by the end of the day. This is a serious issue.

misdee · 12/03/2012 10:56

they have picked the wrong pregnant mother to get on the wrong side of.

i want to know that the boys are being dealt with, and this wont happen again.

however, i am also aware the 15yr olds get a little OTT at times and dont think things through.

i dont want to know who the boys are involved, although it is tempting, as thats not relelevent to me, but knowing that they have been made aware of how serious their actions could've been (resulting in the death of my daughter if she hadnt had her medication with her maybe...), and have the wotsit scared out of them by school/police will suffice. and also for their parents to made aware of what happened.

am drafting a letter as well. i will be home in time for their lunch break (late at this school).

imnotmymum · 12/03/2012 11:01

would not wait for a phone call would go down there directly in person. This is outrageous absolutely outrageous

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDawn · 12/03/2012 11:03

A friend of my pfb was once held down and had peanuts forced into his mouth by some pupils at school because "they wanted to see if it was true that he would die if he ate one" The school did absolutely nothing at all (it has since closed after spending several years in special measures) so I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for them to do anything :(

misdee · 12/03/2012 11:04

if i went down there, it may not be safe for anyone involved Blush

phone call, letter, then is still not happy wiithout come, police.

i have had the weekend to stew over this, but the flame of anger is still there. i can be more articulate over the phone and calm, which is what is needed for this first contact (which should've happened on friday!)

OP posts:
misdee · 12/03/2012 11:05

pombear, thats awfuil. my anaphylatic child has just started nursery and i'm still a wreak just thinking about her starting school and being at the mercy of other children.

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 12/03/2012 11:06

Came on to say calm down Dear but in fact this is appaling. In fact I think you're being too forgiving!
I didn't reqlise you were pg, congratulations!

misdee · 12/03/2012 11:09

belive me, i am not being too forgiving. the profanaties in my head would make satan blush. what i would like to do, and what i'm going to do are two different things.

just feel this is better to tackle calmly and articulatly with the school, rather than go in all guns blazing at this point. will save them for later if not dealt with.

OP posts:
lambethlil · 12/03/2012 11:11
Shock

I would want blood.
Or at least to know that culprits had been disciplined, whole school safety measure banning aerosols, etc.

misdee · 12/03/2012 11:13

blood is tempting...

as yet, i know nothing from the schools point of view!
