To throw away my entire underwear dawer and start again

At the moment it's all odd socks and period pants and bras that fitted properly once and tights with ladders. Aibu to think the only thing to do is go to M&S with a couple of hundred quid and start again. And then cry when I realise that just buys five pairs of tights, a lack bra and a hold me in thingy.

I did exactly that after getting fitted at bravissimo and realising I had always worn the wrong size bra.

I bought loads of bras in the correct size from eBay rather than spending a fortune buying from bravissimo.

troisgarcons · 09/03/2012 00:00

TBH - get measured and do Tesco Bras .... a 1/3rd of the price and THE most comfortable thing I have found in a long time

WorraLiberty · 09/03/2012 00:00

Get your knickers from Primark! Grin

The do a massive range of styles and they're so cheap, they're almost disposable.

NarkedPuffin · 09/03/2012 00:02

One out one in is the policy I use. Buy eg a new bra and a few pairs of socks, throw out an old bra and a few pairs of socks. Do that for a few months and you'll have a nice underwear draw.

If you empty out the drawer and rebuy it all you'll just be in the same situation in a year or so.

georgethecat · 09/03/2012 00:03

Ooooo lovely, do it, crispy new pants.

BTW Marks and Sparks now has an online outlet.

Catkinsthecatinthehat · 09/03/2012 00:05

YANBU to want to create a lovely undies drawer from scratch. YABU to go to M&S for bras - get yourself to Bravissimo and get your norks measured properly.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 09/03/2012 00:10

Don't go to M&S though, their stuff is boring and overpriced.

I dream of doing this, mine is all feeding bras, post-section big pants and knickers with dodgy elastic, with a few nice bits buried somewhere.

GirlWithALlamaTattoo · 09/03/2012 07:50

Do it! (At risk of outing myself) My Dad always said that the state of your underwear drawer was a reflection of your self-esteem. If M&S is too expensive for a full replacement, Tesco will do, just get enough clean and hole-free undercrackers to keep you going and buy nice bits as you can afford them.

squeakytoy · 09/03/2012 07:55

sainsburys have a brilliant range too.. for £200 you can fill two drawers! Grin

StickAForkInMeImDone · 09/03/2012 07:59

Do it Yellow I desperately want to get rid of all my underwear and start again but can't afford to at the moment.

south345 · 09/03/2012 08:15

Wish there was a bravissimo near me the nearest one is over an hour away, really need to get properly fitted and our local ones are rubbish.

sparkle12mar08 · 09/03/2012 08:22

I did this a little while ago when I put on weight. None of my pants fitted properly so I took the plunge, went to M&S and spent about £20 on 15 pairs of plain white pants, the same on 14 pairs of black socks, and bought two good bras in the sale at Debenhams for £35. I did wince but it felt very good knowing I had nice stuff to wear. I've since lost weight again so need a couple more new bras.

Do it I say!

GetTheeToANunnery · 09/03/2012 08:24

Yabu! I did this after I had ds and I was back at a normal size. Makes you feel so much better! Just don't go spending all your money at m&s, cheaper shops are just as good, if not better

treat yourself to a bravissimo fitting "you're worth it" as they say !!

Then yup- to ebay to get the same fantastic bra in last years colours so you have a few spare. did this for DD recently. Buy a "nude" bra that'll go under anything from bravissimo- they are never reduced.

Sorry to hijack but just wondered do you have to pay anything to get measured at Bravissimo? (They might laugh at my small ones too issimma!)

BrianButterfield · 09/03/2012 08:42

If you have smallish boobs and don't need expensive scaffolding, Primark, Peacocks and New Look do inexpensive sets that aren't too much different to M&S or similar and mean you could have all lovely matching stuff. Or if you have time to devote to TK Maxx you can get some really nice designer stuff, Calvin Klein etc. another tip is to find a style you like in the shop and then look on eBay for them.

Mrsjay · 09/03/2012 08:46

I did this a few years back , I really should do it again my underwear is shocking ATM , anyway i did it after christmas and hit debenhams january sales , It was great DO IT Grin

I agree, you should do it. I have probably similar shape to you and find Calvin Klein and Elle MacPherson bras, in the sale, are really nice, fit well, and probably cost the same as M&S. Topshop is also nice. M&S good for tights. You will feel so much better for it! (if you can afford it of course). Haven't tried the other shops but sure those would be just as nice as well.

my2centsis · 09/03/2012 09:53

Do it!! I would love tO have the $ to do this! Damn stuffs so expensive

duke748 · 09/03/2012 11:31

I did this after having my DS and donated my old bras to a charity that passed them on to women in Africa. I wonder what they thought of my frillies!

Anyway, might be worth a look?

Proudnscary · 09/03/2012 11:32

I'm going to do the same I think
