It all went wrong when people worked out how to build large structures. When gatherings were confined to the size of a cave, or tent, it restricted the seepage of crappness. People were as shit but the spread and contact was more limited.

If the cave was held under the spell of a really bollox person. It would at least spread slower to neighbouring caves. Or come to a natural stop because no bugger could be arsed that night to cross the forest, kill a few bears along the way, to communicate the new ideas. If they did start on the journey, then it'd hit them as not that important once they stopped for a brew, realised there were no matches, one of the group should probably sit there for a while tapping flints together, the others really should look out for the remainding bears.

Supermarkets, churches, offices, schools, all perfecting breeding grounds for the spread of crap. They're too big. Of course now we've invented the feckin Internet so even in our own homes we can't escape humanity.
