This is actually annoying me, yeah I am probably unreasonable for starting this here.

AIBU to think if Marcus Collins was going to cover a cover he could have put his own spin on it.

Still in the music industry...did Marcus just dream this version up then and have no idea that it has already been done this way?

I think most people will call it a White Stripes cover because Jack White wrote it and they had the hit with it. Yes Ben did a similar cover to Marcus and his "people" must have been aware of this version but I don't think anybody would be aware of it if Marcus hadn't recovered it.

It's a bloody mudering of a White Stripes song.

It is a cover of whoever wrote the original song. That's just how it works.
