DD likes those double dippers. She asked me if I wanted to double dip with her.
I am clearly a mucky moo.

brighthair · 08/03/2012 13:18

I have taken to eating space raiders and tangy toms - 20p in my local shop Grin
This was after I went in for a can of pop and a bag of crisps, took £1 and realised I didn't have enough

BigGirlInASmallWorld · 08/03/2012 18:29

Space Raider, pickled onion flavour were very strong!

The last time I brought a multi pack, years ago, for my tea Blush they were flavourless.

YANBU I bought a packet of quavers and a packet of squares the other day - the daylight robber nice lady asked for £1.39!!!!!!!

WorraLiberty · 08/03/2012 19:01

I went to my local off licence shop a little while ago and this thread made me look at the Monster Munch.

75 fucking pence for a normal size bag! Shock

I think it's only £2 for a multi sack in some supermarkets.

EmptyBotheredPocket · 08/03/2012 19:31

Shock I'm shocked and disgraced! 79p?! 79 pence, for a normal sized packet of crisps?!

CurrySpice · 08/03/2012 19:35

I just about remember crisps being sixpence

[old gimmer emoticon]

BigGirlInASmallWorld · 08/03/2012 19:35

SEE SEE?

Worra is backing me up!

I never lie, i didn't buy them as I didn't want to spoil my size zero figure :)

GavisconJunkie · 08/03/2012 19:37

I too have zero figure

complexnumber · 08/03/2012 19:51

You're all so shallow with your petty nostalgia...

You have to go pre-decimal to raise an eyebrow in my rose-tinted world:

Bag of crisps (Smiths or Golden Wonder) 6d
Blackjacks or Fruit Salads 1d for 2 (My big sis remembers when you could use farthings for these)

And just post-decimal (1971) there was a chippie on Kings Street Hammersmith that had a kids portion of chips for 2p... about 100yds from where McD's is now.

BigGirlInASmallWorld · 08/03/2012 19:54

complex soo different now eh?

£1.39 for two bags of crisps!

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 08/03/2012 20:05

I think we used to be able to catch the bus for 2p. Shock

complexnumber · 08/03/2012 20:10

You'll have to type a little louder BigGirl!

complexnumber · 08/03/2012 20:15

Thank you BigGirl! I love it when assumptions are challenged.

I bet there isn't much difference in the cost of two bags of crisps in 2012 and nowadays.

It's just that moaning makes getting old worthwhile.

CurrySpice · 08/03/2012 21:36

Oh yes, 2p bus fare. Mom would take us into town - one and two halves - 8p

CurrySpice · 08/03/2012 21:38

Erm...complex 2012 is nowadays

Or are you Time Lord?

handbagCrab · 08/03/2012 21:41

79p! I'd expect them to be made from actual monsters' feet and eyes for that price!

(only read pg 1 and 4, so someone might have already made that observation)

WorraLiberty · 08/03/2012 21:43

Fuck my figure

I just couldn't afford them Grin

BigGirlInASmallWorld · 08/03/2012 22:03

Grin Chucks Worra a quid.
