Shock They were 12p when I was a child. What's happening to the world?

MaybeItsBecause · 08/03/2012 11:30

I could buy a panda pop drink, chipsticks and an animal bar for 30p in my day Shock Grin

ripsishere · 08/03/2012 11:32

2 1/2p a packet for crisps. I was around 6.
I've just eaten a packet of pom bears in full view of the window. What could I have started in my road?

LadySybilDeChocolate · 08/03/2012 11:35

I remember biscuits which were shaped like fish and chips. They came in a packet, like crisps, and were lovely. Has anyone seen any? Sad

FlossieTeacakeShouldFakeIt · 08/03/2012 11:37

Freddos are 20p now. The ones in my local shop have it printed on the packet next to Freddo himself.

Since that travesty occurred, I have been unable to feel shock at any ridiculous price hikes because I am still numb from that one.

WowOoo · 08/03/2012 11:37

Monster Munch are my favorite crisps in the whole world. And I need some now.

Sparklingbrook · 08/03/2012 11:38

Yum Lady. Grin I don't think they exist any more. Sad

LadySybilDeChocolate · 08/03/2012 11:38

snackspot.org.uk/images/burtonsfishandchips.jpg These? My mouth's watering just thinking about them. Sad

TheSinglePringle · 08/03/2012 11:39

lady were they Burton's? If so you can type into google and there's a website that tells you where they are still been sold

LadySybilDeChocolate · 08/03/2012 11:39

Oh, that's them sparkling. I used to eat bags of them. Blush I found a petition to bring them back, it's dated 2007 though. Sad

BigGirlInASmallWorld · 08/03/2012 11:40

I loved those Lady but I did find the flavour was less strong.

Burtons made them. I haven't seen those for years.

I loved Cadbury's coconut Boost in the red packet.

Hope they come back.

LadySybil...have not clicked on your link yet. I think they might be my actual favourite things.
I can't remember where I got them from last, but I bulk bought, relished them and hid them from my children.

PrincessFiorimonde · 08/03/2012 11:41

sparklingbrook: 'We had a 10p mixture at the sweet shop with or without bubbly.'

Well, if they threw in free champagne, that's not bad. Or was it only cava?

Sparklingbrook · 08/03/2012 11:41

Also I am missing

Cabana Bars
Fuse Bars
Spangles
Pacers

Grin
LadySybilDeChocolate · 08/03/2012 11:44

Sad They are the only thing I miss, those and 10p bags of sweets.

BigGirlInASmallWorld · 08/03/2012 11:45

Trebor jars of weighing sweets.

Mix ups

Bluebird chocolate covered toffees.

TheOneWithTheHair · 08/03/2012 11:46

Please tell me someone remembers cola rola balls? I was once told they were banned for being too hard.

Sparklingbrook · 08/03/2012 11:46

Was that the toffee that came with the hammer BigGirl?

Sockspence · 08/03/2012 11:48

someone is going to tell me that you can't get a can of coke for 25p anymore.

SmethwickBelle · 08/03/2012 11:48

With wheat snacks the cheaper they are the nicer they are. I have tested this theory comprehensively, the tiny packs you get in the corner shop for 7p/15p/30p or whatever are much much nicer than monster munch.

TheSinglePringle · 08/03/2012 11:48

Anyone remember the hard alphabet letters that were really powdery and the lips that were rubbery and tasted of soap?

FreudianSlipper · 08/03/2012 11:50

does anyone remember Banjo's ?

the looked like a twix but wafer inside and i think coconut they were really nice

TheOneWithTheHair · 08/03/2012 11:50

I don't remember soapy, rubber lips but I think you can still get the alphabet letters.

Sparklingbrook · 08/03/2012 11:51

DH loves those letters Single. Asda used to do really nice ones. The sweets I never understood were those polystyrene flying saucers. Bleurgh.

TheSinglePringle · 08/03/2012 11:54

I loved the cola bottles that were blue and pink.
