to not tell anybody about my driving test?

Namechanged obviously!

Have recently started driving lessons again after failing the test twice in my teens. Public transport round here is awful and all of the attractions/facilities are 1hr+ away by bus so I NEED to drive. So I'm learning to drive :)

It's going pretty well, my new instructor is so much better than the one I had years ago, my test is booked and I'm feeling much more confident... But... I can still remember all the pressure from my last two tests, my parents telling all and sundry exactly when my test was and everyone ringing up to 'give words of encouragement' and to see how it went and having to tell everyone that I'd failed... TWICE... it was awful :(

So would I be unreasonable to just not tell anybody that my test is booked? And I mean NOBODY, not even DP or parents, cause I know that 'tell nobody' would go in one ear and out the other. Or would they be really offended that I kept the secret from them when (if) I tell them I've passed? If it'd cause an argument I don't really want the stress. Argh conflicted! MN jury, what do you think?

YANBU I didn't tell anyone about my test. Not a soul.

Not unreasonable, I didn't tell anyone I was learning either. I even stopped to let my flat mates across the road on my test and they didn't notice.

YANBU. We didn't tell DD when her test was booked for until we woke her on the morning of her test. We woke her up, told her her instructor was on her way and waved her off.

I didn't tell my mum when I was taking my test (my dad knew) as I could envisage the extra stress it would give me straight away......

cricketballs · 06/03/2012 18:29

I also didn't tell my dh (boyfriend at the time in case I failed!)

NoVeggiesBeforeSkeggies · 06/03/2012 18:29

YANBU

I failed my 1st and had to do the whole failure texting thing- awful.

I didn't tell anyone about my 2nd (nearly cancelled it at the last minute!) and passed.

Good luck!
