Take one open tread stair, make it extra steep, carefully arrange expensive crockware along exposed edge, place comfortable reading chair directly below etc etc. In what kind of lifestyle could this work? Or do all your houses look like this?!

Maybe it's all stuff that someone has put there because it needs to go upstairs? And someone just keeps shoving it to the edge and ignoring it?

Some people do have nice houses - I do in my mind!

I think its a passive aggressive statement on behalf of whoever does the washing up, aimed at the person who sits in the comfy chair reading.

If i had an upstairs kitchen, my house would look like that ,

I pile everything on the stairs and just blind fold visitors until they are in my living room, which is always uber tidy. I just hope that there's never a fire and we have to get down the stairs n a hurry.

And where are the mysterious backlegs of that chair?
