Some c**t has kindly allowed their dog to shit on the corner outside our house- a route commonly used by kids going to school/oldies on their merry way. I cant bring myself to move someone elses dogs shit nor should I have to but I dont want it sat outside the house being trod in and walked all around the neighbourhood. WIBU to ring the council and ask them to sort this environmental health risk as tbh im fucking fuming

YANBU! Why on earth should you take responsibility for some crap pet owner??! And to whoever said "cats bury their poo", no they don't. That is something cat owners say to justify their selfishness. They shit right on my lawn, so my kids can't use our garden until I've checked it over. People who can't clean up after their animals deserve to lose them, not pay a fine.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 05/03/2012 12:12

I quite like the smell of horse and cow shit...

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 05/03/2012 12:22

Horse poo and louse powder

iCANdothisiCAN · 05/03/2012 12:28

Mrs DV I'm with you, it's like an old school game of AIBU bingo.

  • AIBU about something annoying but fairly innocuous in the grand scheme of things?
  • Well, yes and no.
  • righteous anger and indignation ensues.
  • some agree some don't.
  • cue more righteous indignation.
  • some light hearted posts in an attempt to lift the mood.
  • yet more righteous anger and indignation.

T'is good for the soul Smile

Jackstini · 05/03/2012 12:31

YANBU to be mad at the dog owner
YANBU to report it as your council has a scheme

YABU to moan so much about it being a problem for kids and old people but not go outside with a bucket of water!
If someone steps in it and you could have prevented it how will you feel?

LilacWaltz · 05/03/2012 12:31

Op... Have you got a security light??? Because this thread reminds me of someone...

Housewifefromheaven · 05/03/2012 12:36

I LOVE MUMSNET :o

Jackstini · 05/03/2012 12:42

Or could you squirt it forcefully off the pavement with a Fruit Shoot? Grin

Ruudiluca · 05/03/2012 12:57

You don't think you should clean the shit up but you think it is OK for some poor sod working at the council to do it. Hmmm...

YANBU. Going by some of these posts if a drunk shits on the road it should be your public duty to clean it up too Hmm.

Ruudiluca · 05/03/2012 13:05

Even so op expresses concern for her children being around it, surely if you were that concerned you would suck it up and pick it up? You don't even need to touch it, it's a plastic bag jobby.

PandaWatch · 05/03/2012 13:06

I am a dog owner and always pick up my dog's poo and get pissed off by the amount left on the streets round us. However I get equally annoyed at rubbish strewn everywhere and more annoyed at smashed glass which routinely appears on the pavements (and don't even get me started on spitters Angry).

OP - you're right - it shouldn't be your responsibility to deal with it but you not dealing with it is not going to help the situation at all. I have picked up other dog's poo, rubbish and swept up broken glass in the proximity of our house not because I feel it's my duty but because it's not a big deal, doesn't take long, is better than looking at/treading in it and helps make the world a marginally nicer place :)

As for someone further up saying dog poo bins are a waste of time - I disagree. All dog poo bins and regular bins have mysteriously disappeared from the streets near me and since then the dog poo and rubbish problem has got significantly worse.

LilacWaltz · 05/03/2012 13:07

Shock 'suck it up'

PandaWatch · 05/03/2012 13:08

Grin at LilacWaltz

Ruudiluca · 05/03/2012 13:09

"suck it up" meaning man up obviously Hmm

aleene · 05/03/2012 13:09

Not read entire thread but last week I did attend to some dog shit outside my front gate. I tried to pick up with newspaper, flush it away with hot water and scrubbed it with my garden broom. Don't know what that dog had been eating but my efforts didn't make much difference. Angry

WorraLiberty · 05/03/2012 13:09

surely if you were that concerned you would suck it up and pick it up?

I think sucking shit off the pavement is above and beyond the call of community spirit Shock

Ruudiluca · 05/03/2012 13:10

Wrong choice of words maybe Blush

PandaWatch · 05/03/2012 13:14

aleene are you sure it wasn't this superglued to the pavement? Grin

Camerondiazepam · 05/03/2012 13:15

Sorry for the satellite delay but tea came out of my nose at "faecal renegade". AIBU to want that on some business cards?!

iCANdothisiCAN · 05/03/2012 13:16

"suck it up" just awesome advice!

I was having a rubbish day and feeling very sorry for myself before. It's always sobering to be reminded that others have it worse.

Ruudiluca · 05/03/2012 13:20

Knowing the society we are turning into if OP did pick up the offending dog crap she would probably be awarded some monetary compensation for "pain and suffering" by the courts. Wink

iCANdothisiCAN · 05/03/2012 13:21

I've been looking for a new nn for a while!
