To think that using an iPad to post to MN has made many of us appear drunken than we actually are?

Inappropriate capitalisation, mysterious incomprehensible words appearing in the middle in sentences, punctuation failures, inability to post emoticons without making a typing mistake.... Etc

Hear, hear! In some of my posts I come across a quite stupid :)

LineRunner · 04/03/2012 11:48

Obviously that should read drunker. Hmm Stop correcting me when I am looking at the key pad, you beautiful but slightly dim machine.

Yeah, I hate the auto-correct on my iPhone.

Apart from the random word changes, ifI italicise certain words once, it automatically italicises them in all subsequent posts, so I end up with loads of random italics. Hmm

WorraLiberty · 04/03/2012 11:51

YANBU it's like a trip back in time

tethersend · 04/03/2012 12:03

I like to randomly use incorrect punctuation and

Use the wrong words so that people think I have an iPad and am rich.

LilacWaltz · 04/03/2012 12:04

Well it's not just from an iPad is it.... iPhone, I touch, phones etc

FannyPriceless · 04/03/2012 12:11

Oh, but I have never go the hang of posting from a phone, soit's only now that I have an iPad that I am feeling the drunken frustration of being unable to express myself clearly. Blush

Grin @tethers

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDawn · 04/03/2012 12:23

Can the auto correct be turned off on iThings, or is it always on?
I hate it, same with predictive text - can that be switched off on iThings? - and am sort of thinking about getting a new toy, but I don't want one if I can't turn them off Grin I'd break it in rage and frustration before I'd had it a day.

HoneyandHaycorns · 04/03/2012 12:31

If it can be turned off, I don't know how to do it.

MargaretOfFanjo · 04/03/2012 12:36

I often cringe when I look back at my posts. It is a nightmare getting the cursor in the right place to correct things.

HoneyandHaycorns · 04/03/2012 12:37

Yes Margaret, I have that problem with the cursor too.

ceeveebee · 04/03/2012 12:38

Sorry to be a smartarse but I have mine turned off: settings/general/keyboard then turn it off!!!

HoneyandHaycorns · 04/03/2012 12:40

Ooh, thanks ceeveebee, that's useful. You don't happen to know how to teach it not to correct certain words, do you?

valiumredhead · 04/03/2012 12:41

I don't have an i pad but I have a new i mac and it has the most STUPID auto correct ever and my posts make no sense whatsoever most of the time!

HoneyandHaycorns · 04/03/2012 12:43

Yeah, but don't you just love the iMac Valium?

valiumredhead · 04/03/2012 12:45

Well I would if I could work out how to use the bloody thing honey I have somehow managed to hide the address bars at the top of pages so can no longer do links and it took me WEEKS to work out how to copy and paste It's lovely as a second telly though for watching i player Grin

Witchofthenorth · 04/03/2012 12:46

I want an imaaaaaaaaaaac !!

ChaoticAngel · 04/03/2012 12:52

I love some of the autocorrects on here Grin

HoneyandHaycorns · 04/03/2012 12:57

Ah yes, the lack of the right click. Grin

I do find it a bit confusing to go from my iMac at home to the pc at work. Keep pressing "control" when I'm not supposed to. But I love the iMac anyway. And the iPhone.

DH hates it, can't adapt. Grin So he is stuck with old laptop, leaving iMac all for me!! :)

valiumredhead · 04/03/2012 13:12

I have never used a PC only macs, I had to use a PC yesterday to look up train times at my dad's house and didn't know WHAT I was doing Grin I have had a mac laptop for the last 12 years and have go so used to that and I can't seem to adapt to the i mac.

witch we got a re conditioned one - still loads of dosh but cheaper than a new one and still comes with the same guarantee. It certainly doesn't ooh second hand - it's all shiny new and sparkling Grin

valiumredhead · 04/03/2012 13:13

look not ooh. ffs!

Trills · 04/03/2012 13:15

No, it just makes you look like you are using an ipad.

There's a big difference between typos from a proper keyboard and typos-corrected-wrongly-by-an-iphone/ipad.
