A month out of standard shop guarantee - breaks down. Get it repaired and then buy an annual repair policy as it works out cheaper to do that than purchase new machine (+ I loathe throwing stuff away).

1st break down was in August

October darn thing floods my kitchen and the flat below - get it repaired.
Feb 6th - PCB board goes - get it repaired
Today - darn thing has started leaking yet again - repairman due Monday.

Am being unreasonable to think this is totally unacceptable in a machine less than 3 years old?. (Previous machines from other manufacturers have all lasted minimum 5-10 years before needing ANY repairs!).

I can't afford a new machine till the end of this year but am currently thinking next time I'll have to go for a fancy brand like Bosch or Miele (and take out a small mortage to do it).

I lpve my Beko and my mum bought one when she needed a new machine. I've had mine years and bought it on the recommendation of the repair man who couldn't fix my old machine - he said they are one of the most reliable.

If my machine died tomorrow I would buy another the same. Great value for money!

In not sure any of the brands are more reliable than another.

I've got a beko oven and have had to change the element in it 3 times in 18 months Confused

I have a beko washing machine and have had it at least four years and it is all still working fine.x

My LG washing machine is a piece of shit. It rarely manages a load without stopping for some reason or other, either the load needs rebalancing or the filter is blocked with a sock. I absolutely hate it with a passion. Unfortunately it cost a fortune so I can't bear to ditch it and replace with something better.

You won't find many people complaining about Miele machines. My washer/drier is 5 years old now and has never blinked. Judging from other users' reports it will be good for ten years at least. They may be expensive but work out cheaper per year in the long run.

Washing machines I have had in adult washing-machine-owning lifetime:

Zanussi 1 = 13 years with 1 repair (but this was pre-children so prob only did 4 washes per week)

Zanussi 2 = 7 years (no breakdowns/repairs)

Hotpoint Aquarius = 7 years (no breakdowns/repairs)

Bosch = current.

I think if you are only going to buy a budget machine then about 5 years is good.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 08/10/2014 20:37

Well the second hand Hotpoint I posted about 4 days ago, has just stopped working. It lasted just 6 days in our house.
I am gutted.
No idea what we will do now. Doubt we have any come back with the seller through Ebay as it was cash on collection. So FIL is £50 poorer and we are back without a washer.

I splashed out on a Miele washing machine and separate tumble dryer (can't stand washer dryers). Both are amazing and so worth it

PuppyMonkey · 06/02/2022 09:22

Crikey, did it take ten years to do that ipem?Grin

hmm my Amica has died after 12 years, well its not dead it trips the electric box whenever it spins out so I think theres a loose wire in it.

I am trying to tidy the hall at the moment to make space, as if I call the landlord he will probably just arrange for a new one to be delivered from a high street shop with free installation as thats what he does.

I hope he doesnt get a Beko, I have never heard of Amica but this is the first time I have had a problem with it.

roses2 · 06/02/2022 09:25

I usually buy the cheapest machine with a 5 year guarantee. Usually LG or Samsung. I don't trust expensive appliances that only come with 1 year guarantee!
