My reason is that most welsh school do so much activities, the children get to dress up in welsh costume and also as a nhs worker I would have to go in even if it was a bank holiday

Is it in danger of becoming one then?

Years ago we used to have a half day off school but that was scrapped.

I think it is a good idea - everyone overlooks good old Dewi Sant. Instead if being school based activities could be community based.

Take your point about certain jobs - but doubt you'd be working every St Davids day.

Ooh yes, I remember the half day off school.

Eisteddfod in the morning; home at lunchtime. Good times!

The more holidays the better!

ArielNonBio · 29/02/2012 18:58

So? Are they talking about making it a bank holiday?

Here in Cornwall, the nats moan because St Piran's Day isn't a bank holiday and they say that the Welsh have got St David's Day and why shouldn't they have St Piran's Day off blah blah blah. I always correct them. They don't like it.

Well, if we're going down this road, it's about time St George's Day was a public holiday. And Trafalgar Day.

ArielNonBio · 29/02/2012 21:17

Blimey. How many do you want?
