YABU to expect anything different from a recruitment agency I'm afraid. You're a commodity that they're trying to sell. If they find a buyer for you then brilliant, but if they don't have a job on their desk at that moment that you could potentially do, then you're not important to them. Used to be one, hated pretending that we provided a service to candidates. It was a sales job, nothing more.

Every job I've ever had, apart from my current one, I've found through a recruitment agency. I think they can be brilliant.

The woman in one of the many (20+) in our town told me they quite often have filled the vacancies advertised in the window.

I wouldnt blame you either. They are a waste of space and time. Positions advertised are either non existant or are already full, they make it sound as though they are more than what they are. They never call you back, email you or do anything that actually involves job searching.

In 1 month I applied for 3 jobs, all with this same agency, 3 times I had to sign their paperwork to go onto their books and go through the interview...waste of time.

Nobody replies to job applications these days anyway on my case not even after being interviewed. Very annoying but if you need a job you need to put up with it even if each time it destroys a little bit more of you.
