I'm looking for some apps for my 2 year old. We already have Soundtouch and ABC Go and ABC Wildlife but DP wants me to get something a bit more educational.

Can anyone recommend any good apps for pre-schoolers?

DS loves angry birds but it's not that educational! Matching puzzles are good for memory and there is a nice one called phone4kids that is about £1.49 but very good value.

Try either Alchemy or Alchemy Genetics.

The former involves mixing elements to create new ones. You start off with earth, air, fire and water. You drag one thing to another and try to create a new element (and later, other things) out of it. For instance, if you dragged water to earth, you'd get a swamp. If you dragged swamp to air you'd get bacteria or something. Then if you dragged bacteria to water you'd get plankton... you'll eventually build entire cities and forests. I found it addictive.

Alchemy Genetics is the same thing but with animals, which might be more fun for kids. You start with an ant, a fish, a bird and a rat. All the animals have characteristics such as 'cunning' or 'domestic' or 'slow' or 'furry' and you have to make new animals using a combination. For instance, if you want to make a hamster think of it's characteristics and then match animals which you have already made. i.e. 'nocturnal' and 'furry' or 'small' and 'rodent' in which case the rat would match the 'rodent' part and an owl would match the 'nocturnal' part so put them together to see if it makes a hamster. You often make animals you've never even heard of by mistake.

I love both of these games :D And they're both FREE!!!
