Just that.

you could ask why they also wear bows in their hair and boys don't

FabbyChic · 27/02/2012 20:27

Because a mans chest is generally flat. They don't wear bras thats why.

callmemrs · 27/02/2012 20:28

Some guys need bikini tops frankly!

DinahMoHum · 27/02/2012 20:28

so their tits dont show as much?

chocolategateaudeluxe · 27/02/2012 20:29

a 3/5/7/9/sometimes 11 year-old girl's chest is flat too.

Because as a society we sexualise girls - even very young ones.

DinahMoHum · 27/02/2012 20:32

they dont have to. You can just put the pants on them if you want, or there are one pieces available.

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 27/02/2012 20:32

Dd just wears ds's old board shorts and goes topless, everytime mil sees her on the beach she looks like this -> Hmm

I have a friend who fb'ed some pics last summer of her 18mo dd in a bikini, why, why would you do that?

Portofino · 27/02/2012 20:33

What lesley said.

i was actually just looking at these for my little girl recently

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 27/02/2012 20:34

Actually do you mean 'girls'? Or the female gender generally?

I wear a bikini top because my boobs are seriously low without, I would happily be topless while lying down thoughGrin

Sirzy · 27/02/2012 20:36

For young children I don't like bikinis, swimsuit or just bottoms is fine surely? I hate the bra type bikins for little ones.

chocolategateaudeluxe · 27/02/2012 20:37

I literally mean girls, aged 0 to

OP posts:
SamuelWestsMistress · 27/02/2012 20:38

Probably for the same reason they don't wear frilly knickers! (well not in public)

callmemrs · 27/02/2012 20:41

Ah right so you mean young girls. Well, at about age 8, my dd desperately wanted a bikini for the beach. My ds didn't, if that answers your question.

I wouldn't put a child of either gender in a bikini at 18 months- would be uncomfortable and a bit pointless

Archemedes · 27/02/2012 20:58

I havent been flat chested since I was 8 , and those dreadful onsie swim suits dont really support anyonbe above a b cup. They all look like they're polishing their knee caps.

I dont like bikinis in very young girls with no reason etc.
