DS has to dress up as his favourite book animal for school on Fri, he's in the foundation unit so only goes for 3 hours.

DS wants to go as a crocodile and the only outfits I can find are £15.99 at least plus postage. I don't know whether he will even wear it if I get one.

I can't sew otherwise I would attempt to make him one.

Cover him in cotton wool and send him as a sheep

Help him make himself a croc mask and dress him in green

MotherOfSuburbia · 21/02/2012 20:44

Green t shirt + leggings / trousers. Cardboard tail pinned on and mask made of cardboard / egg box??

PandaG · 21/02/2012 20:44

green jumper or t-shirt, green jogging bottoms. pin green card tail to back of jumper.

make a headband out of green card, 2 white ovals stuck on as eyes with black pupils, and triangular green snout sticking out with white paper teeth stuck on.

fairly straightforward?

Make a mask of almost any animal - monkey, lion, cat, etc, and dress him in co-ordinating T-shirt / jogging bottoms... e.g. brown / beige, yellow / beige, black / white. You probably have the clothes already but if not buy cheaply from Primark or similar and know you'll probably get further wear from them anyway.

Crocodile is harder, I grant you.

You should be able to make something if you cut armholes and head hole in a green pillowcase (very cheap in asda) then use a cereal box, cover it in white paper, paint green and white for a head, use more paper and cardboard to make a tail.

TiredofYorks · 21/02/2012 21:49

Wow, thank you for all your ideas, yes I should be able to manage some of that. I especially like the pillowcase idea.

I've got a couple of days off, so will have a crack at it, and if the crocodile fails I have plenty of cotton wool Smoggi :o
