I had no idea.

I've been away from the UK, and just saw the actual proposals/rules on another thread.

Its bad right?

I imagine there is another thread on this so if there is, sorry ...I can't find it! :)

Our reforms put work, whether full time, part time or just a few hours per week,at the centre of our welfare system.
according to the DWP website.
yes, just a few hours, well, 24.

re: getting hit by bus and so on..that would be a bummer..but I try to keep my wits about me when out and about.
re: cancer. That would be a bummer too but I wouldn't go through chemo etc, I would try alternative measures and if that failed, kill myself.
I do coffee enemas every day google gerson therapy to try to stave off getting sick in the first place.
I don't believe that I have a right to live from zero to 70 whatever.
I am more humble than that.
If I am to expire before 'my time', so be it.
I'd rather there were fewer folks on the planet in the meantime, I don't need your kids to take care of me in the future.
I can look after myself.

Shame

KalSkirata · 18/02/2012 20:17

Happy said 'If you are already supporting yourself and child rather than the state then why so against UC as its obviously not going to affect you?'

Because many of us are a, sympathetic to others facing tough times. Something you apear to lack and b, aware misfortune can strike at anytime. DH was a decent earner. Then dd was born brain damaged. It happens. My friends child caught meningitis at 17. He now needs 24 hour care both parents provide day and night. It can hapen to anyone. Even self righteous right wing tories.

hookaduck · 18/02/2012 20:17

Oh do one Bay, you talk a load of rubbbish

cazboldy · 18/02/2012 20:18

the trouble is that none of the politicians have to experience these problems. They are so far removed from it, and their lives are so much easier, because of the vast wages they pay themselves, that they can't understand the reality

KalSkirata · 18/02/2012 20:19

you do talk crap baypolar and insinuate other people in accidents werent 'keeping their wits about them'
Total bollocks.
But enjoy your coffee enemas and please dont ever ask for help. Ever.

cazboldy · 18/02/2012 20:20

coffee enemas Grin

delightful!

that's what's coming out of your mouth!

thefroggy · 18/02/2012 20:21

So anyone less than perfect should orf themselves then bay?

That would me most of us I think.

Hmm.

ilovesooty · 18/02/2012 20:21

I am more humble than that

ROTFL

thefroggy · 18/02/2012 20:23

Is it de-caff though?

SalmeMurrikAgain · 18/02/2012 20:23

cazboldy! Why aren't you taking advice from someone who thinks they can ensure their own health by squirting coffee up their bum?
Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

IneedAbetterNicknameIn2012 · 18/02/2012 20:24

Wow Bay, just wow! I mean you seem fucking lovely Hmm My much loved Grandmother had cancer, despite having led a healthy and (as much as possible) stress free life. I am so fucking grateful she had chemo, because we got another 2 1/2 years with an amazing lady! Sadly the cancer returned, and she was too ill for further treatment :(

happyinherts · 18/02/2012 20:25

Does anyone know what they are likely to gain with the Universal Credit?

I mean assuming you meet the criteria and claim, what exactly in monetary terms are you claiming? You're in work, so something like the level of wftc you claim already, or less, more? All I seem to read is eligibility criteria which doesnt really take into account needs that vast amounts of population will have - so what exactly is the Universal Credit in terms of ££ £

KalSkirata · 18/02/2012 20:25

just saw baypolars husband gave up work because he resented paying tax that went to the education authority. But I'm guessing the tax that went on bombs was ok right?
What a selfish arse.

Am laughing at the coffee enemas. But a bunch of new age woo. It'll be crystals and rice cakes next, mark my words. And cosmic ordering.

KalSkirata · 18/02/2012 20:27

but, saturday night and Mrs Perfect is on a forum for parents. My job was a psychologist before I had kids. I sense 'ishoos'
But dont worry, £500 an hour and a crystal and I can help Wink

thefroggy · 18/02/2012 20:28

I like rice cakes, the ones with chocolate on them, can they guarantee me a healthy stress free life?

SalmeMurrikAgain · 18/02/2012 20:30

thefroggy, no - gin and tonic is what you are thinking of Smile

KalSkirata · 18/02/2012 20:31

only if you insert them up your bum froggy. But I cant guarantee that will be stressfree...

cazboldy · 18/02/2012 20:31

Salme ? Beats me Smile

thefroggy · 18/02/2012 20:32

Gin is bad for you Grin

KalSkirata · 18/02/2012 20:33

And a quick google finds...
'Some proponents of alternative medicine have claimed that coffee enemas have an anti-cancer effect by "detoxifying" metabolic products of tumors.[4] There is no scientific evidence to support any anti-cancer effect of coffee enemas.[2][5][6]
Coffee enemas can cause numerous side effects, including infections, severe electrolyte imbalance, colitis, polymicrobial enteric septicemia and heart failure.[4][6][7][8][9][10] If the coffee is inserted too quickly or is too hot, it could cause internal burning[11] or rectal perforation.[12] The use of coffee enemas has led to several deaths as a result of severe electrolyte imbalance.[8]'

I dont think bay will be around for long.

SuePurblybilt · 18/02/2012 20:33

Well I think it's clear to everyone that Bay is indeed owed a refund on the cost of her education. Luckily the Daily Mail isn't too chocka with big words.

thefroggy · 18/02/2012 20:33

That would be a waste of a good ricecake kal

IDoNotLIKEFun · 18/02/2012 20:35

I was actually looking into the idea of being a child-minder earlier, given that the need will increase. And because the thought of spending the day with a baby or toddler and handing them back at the end of it is quite appealing Grin

But CMs are self-employed, can only make so much due to age / ratio restrictions and crucially, have to spend money. Professional training, food, fees for playgroups, toys, craft materials needed in order to deliver the early years curriculum. Most of these would be tax deductible, surely? So you will be unlikely to make a profit equivalent to NMW.

If I am correct, then only people who will be able to afford losing tax credits under UC will be those who have high-earning husbands. OR fees will have to rise. So it might well be that finding affordable and available childcare will become even more of a problem for everyone. Hope I'm wrong!
