...Rochdale.
Good God it's a god forsaken place. There appears to be half a dozen payday loan shos, a few poundland things and some mobile 'phone shops.
It's got so bad that even maccy d's has shut down.
It's only redeeming feature is that Gabbots farm is still clinging on.

nr astley bridge my father in law lives there

ENormaSnob · 18/02/2012 11:26

Ghastly and ItsSnow, I know where you are.

QuintessentialyHollow · 18/02/2012 11:26

Netto There is no other part of Putney than the best one, from a housing perspective Wink. But the "town centre" if you can call it that is not nice. Just a busy main road, with traffic so bad that you cant breathe on a summers day. No focal point. Just cars.

However, I have just also now remembered;
Canning Town
Seven Sisters
Holloway.
Elephant & Castle

ItsSnowDarling · 18/02/2012 11:28

No. Nowhere near AB - not far from Bolton School.

x2boys · 18/02/2012 11:28

GhastlyBespoke · 18/02/2012 11:28

itsSnowdarling are you near Hogwarts?

x2boys that's where I am.

The bus to the Trafford Centre seems to go through all the more desperate areas of Farnworth, Pendlebury, Monton, Walkden. It was a sad journey last week.

x2boys · 18/02/2012 11:30

think i know where you i get bit confused on my geography that side of bolton itssnow

GhastlyBespoke · 18/02/2012 11:31

I met DH in Ritzy Blush

stoatie · 18/02/2012 11:32

Northampton - spent 3 years of my life there in despair - will happily go to Coventry over Northampton any day (not that I am recommending anyone visit Cov - other than the Cathedral and Transport museum it is very dire.)

Castleford - awful place - second what has been said about Carlton Lanes - shudder

Wakefield - totally soul-less. And whoever leaves the shitty knickers in the toilets also leaves some in Lightwaves Changing rooms - I assumed all swimming changing rooms stunk of pee until we moved Grin

Darlington was dire when I last went - and as for Spennymore.........

Rotherham - never again

Kidderminster - Love the fact that to get to the college, SatNav Sean directs me through Aldi car park Grin

x2boys · 18/02/2012 11:33

ItsSnowDarling · 18/02/2012 11:35

Never heard it called Hogwarts before, but quite appropriate! Yes we are close to it.

x2boys · 18/02/2012 11:35

ah ghastley my sister met her dh in the roxy in bury

lesley33 · 18/02/2012 11:37

I used to love the restaurant at the Red Lion in Worksop. Quite posh nice food and very cheap. Sadly it closed and became a beefeater. Also got some bargains in the second hand stalls in the market there.

AmyGarumi · 18/02/2012 11:39

Quint, Elephant and Castle is grim, but I always feel it likes to celebrate it's grimness - 'we're a shithole, so what?'

I agree about Putney, the traffic is awful, like Streatham High Road, or Fulham or most London high streets. Nice pubs though Smile

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 18/02/2012 11:40

industrial towns that have lost their industry seem quite popular...

MsVelvet · 18/02/2012 11:41

Bracknell town centre a concrete monstrosity!!

GhastlyBespoke · 18/02/2012 11:42

DS goes swimming there. He christened it Hogwarts.

Many a wonderful relationship started as a " ten to twoer" at the local nightclub I'm sure. Grin

ENormaSnob · 18/02/2012 11:42

Bloody hell, had many a good night out in ritzy/ikon Grin

oiwheresthecoffee · 18/02/2012 11:42

Dudley. Used to live there. I moved.

LilacWaltz · 18/02/2012 11:44

Lesley are you from there? I quite miss the old place, recently looked on streetview and it's changed a lot

GetDownNesbitt · 18/02/2012 11:44

Apparently there is a porn film called 'any more for Spennymoor?'

To which the answer would be a resounding no.

x2boys · 18/02/2012 11:46

they have closed ikon down now was in the bolton newsa few weeks ago such sweet memories

ItsSnowDarling · 18/02/2012 11:48

I am to old for Ikon (sob) remember Ritzy well though!

lesley33 · 18/02/2012 11:49

No I'm not. Used to visit when we went to clumber park. And discovered the restaurant in the red lion one evening and promptly made it part of our routine when going to clumber. Haven't been there for about 2 years I think since it became a beefeater- is it worse now as a place?
