...vile?

It's not so bad in RL but when I read it on here, I 'hear' it in a certain way that makes my skin crawl and take an instant and irrational dislike to the poster.

Anyone else or is it just me?

campariandlemonade · 15/02/2012 15:15

oooh and
"at the end of the day"
drives me crazy!

madoldbird · 15/02/2012 15:22

"slacks". It just annoys me - what are they, and how do they differ from trousers??

redyam · 15/02/2012 15:27

By my guesstimate, my frenemy yiffed So hard her moist taint Made her panties preggers!

fullofregrets · 15/02/2012 16:43

My mom says 'two pair of trouser.' It is wrong on so many levels that I don't even know where to begin.

Also we have friends from the black country that say 'hers' instead of 'she.' As is 'hers has gone to the shop.' It makes me want to weep.

As an aside I do not care for the words turgid or flaccid. Or hubby. Hubby really gets to me. Oh, and preggers. Actually preggers might set my teeth on edge the most.

MarshaBrady · 15/02/2012 16:45

Me too, oh yes.

It's used a lot on here and for some inexplicable reason I really don't like it.

grumblinalong · 15/02/2012 17:00

I can not bear 'hubby' either fullofregrets. Or 'little man' for a baby boy. Or 'chat'.

I am most judgemental over people who use the word 'texties' instead of text message though. Very Jeremy Kyle.

startail · 15/02/2012 17:17

Could never wear a snood, stupid word
Don't like vomit for obvious reasons.

But vile is essential - How else do you discribe a banana!

MissyNatalie · 15/02/2012 17:26

Fluid

SaltResistantSlug · 15/02/2012 18:38

Bizarre

echt · 15/02/2012 18:43

On-trend.

xkittyx · 15/02/2012 18:48

"Rocking" a (whatever clothing item).
Bubba, or bubs.

xkittyx · 15/02/2012 18:49

I find the word "clitoris" embarrassing to say out loud.

echt · 15/02/2012 18:52

Second that bubs, xkittyx. It's used all the time in Australia. Gets on my threepennies.

catgirl1976 · 15/02/2012 18:53

Any variation on hun

hon
hunni

puds11 · 15/02/2012 19:07

mrsjay · 15/02/2012 19:16

following on from the hun hunni thing babe babbee babbez chick , I am northern so chick is used a lot especially on facebook

Tw1gl3t · 15/02/2012 19:24

Another vote for "on-trend" and also "adequate" used in the passive-agressive way my mother uses it. She once thanked me for doing something " adequate" for her social club... shudder

Feminine · 15/02/2012 19:24

I like Vile.

I hate belly, smelly.

But more annoying to me is a way of getting a point across like this:

"Would I have done it that way had I known? NO, would I have done it if I knew it was going to be expensive? NO, but in in the end I am very glad I did!"

useyourloaf · 15/02/2012 19:32

The use of "for me" as in "can you just put your pin number in FOR ME" and "pop" as in "can you just POP your pin number in FOR ME".

Makes me most cross.

dearprudence · 15/02/2012 19:33

I hate dislike random, especially when used as a noun.

dearprudence · 15/02/2012 19:34

And if we're doing phrases, can I ask when 'can I help you' was replaced with 'are you OK there?'.

resolutecheekymonkey · 16/02/2012 10:33

Why do chefs have to 'fry it off' these days, what happened to 'frying' it? 'Off' what?

resolutecheekymonkey · 16/02/2012 10:37

Oooo and when I worked in retail if an item was sold out....customer "Do you have this item?". Me "I am sorry we haven't any left". Customer "Oh, none at all?" Me "Oh yes, we have some I just don't want to sell them to you you fuckwit!"

Tiddlyompompom · 16/02/2012 11:13

The one that gets me is 'poorly'. Dunno why, but it just sounds really patronising to me, in a kind of head-patting way "Ooh there there, are you a bit poorly, awww". Argh. Just say ill. Perhaps IABU...

MAYBELATERNOWIMBUSY · 21/02/2012 01:51

fondle!!! don"t even know why but how do you well, use that horrid word ? ugg !
