I am! DH's arranged for the DCs to be at the GPs for the rest of half term and I am a bit sad!

I had major health problems last year and am still not 100%. Get very tired quite easily and do sometimes find the DCs a challenge (3DCs, 4-10).

DH arranged for the FILs to take them from today til the weekend. ILs live 4 hours away near the coast, it'll be a brilliant treat for the DCs and they were so excited. I'd suggested I take them down to stay but DH had said not a good idea - I now know because he was arranging this.

He said he thought the best valentine's present he could get me would be some peace and quiet.

What a lovely thought and when he told me this morning (MIL picked them up at 4pm), I was delighted.

But a bit sad too. Usually I arrange it so I have half a day with each DC (using the school holiday club for older two etc), and while I find it hard to get out and about much we do have a nice time doing activities at home.

DH takes a day off work and we have a big family day out (he's still taking the day off, he's taking me out to a posh restaurant for lunch and then on to a glass museum - v unchildfriendly!)

DH is taking me out for a burger soon and I am going to be 100% happy, grateful, delighted! I am!

But AIBU to miss the DCs too? Not sure what I'll do with myself!

I think you should forget feeling sad and feel very happy that you have such a lovely DH and you now have some much needed time to yourself! They are around all the time for you to spend time with after all.

Relax, sleep in, potter around at home, go and see friends, have a nice dinner out with your DH. Most would kill for this sort of time alone. Enjoy!

You are NBU to miss them a bit but they will be back soon :)

Yanbu to miss them of course not. But he did it for all the right reasons and it will probably do you good to have the time to rest.
