just sat with the DS as he has his theory test tomorrow going through the official mock tests....
some of the questions are just daft/stupid and ridiculous!

examples include -
you have too much oil in your engine. What could this cause?
what percentage of all emissions does road transport account for?
the pictured vehicle (a tram) is 'environmentally friendly' because it...

What on earth do these have to do with someone being a safe driver?

My dad was a driving instructor and I took my tests 1 month before hazard perception came in.

lucky

I have been able to answer all highway code questions from age 10 Grin that was our 'motorway game' growing up lol

I suppose it helps when I spell theory correctly in the title!

Being aware of owning a vehicle and car travel in general. It's took me several years to realise cars don't fill themselves up with oil and water. Driving is just a small part of being a responsible road user

cricketballs · 13/02/2012 22:49

it just seems to be past the point of sensible - when I took my test the questions were based on road signs, stopping distances etc - in other words to do with actual safe and legal driving not the bloody environment!

I had to approach a stranger at a petrol station as a new driver who had a similar car to me because I couldn't figure
Out how to get the fuel cap off.

I was shit hot on the highway code but humiliated by a petrol cap on an old VW polo lol

cricketballs · 13/02/2012 22:50

not having enough water in your car though is not going to cause an accident just cost you a fortune Grin these are things you either learn or pay a garage for!

It's no longer multiple choice, is it?

I passed mine when it was.

I'd forgotten it all by the time I took my practical!

I went over and over and over and learned to recognise the right answers from the list of choices, but didn't learn it as such - if that makes any sense.

cricketballs · 13/02/2012 23:11

it is still multiple choice; I think I saw on the news that it was soon going to be made harder...

Its the questions like the tram one - what on earth has that got to do with being a safe driver?
