To think all noisy toys, by law, should have an off switch?!!

All efforts at creeping out of dd2s room were ruined by stepping on pointless, annoying caterpillar which then sang 'que sera sera' of all things. Loudly and slowly.

I'd bloody well vote for an off switch on recorders.

If anyone thinks buying a recorder for a 5 year old is a good idea,I can assure you it isn't.

It changes your life.

Forever.

Panzee · 12/02/2012 19:21

I hate the motion sensor ones. You creep out of the room and your ankle comes within six inches of a Vtech Fire engine. Suddenly the room burst to life. "I'LL GRAB THE HOSE!" Angry

Molehillmountain · 12/02/2012 19:22

At five, surely it should be labelled "whistle". A recorder in the right hands makes beautiful music. Not a five year old's I'm guessing? Smile

Hates noisy toys*

Especially when you buy them off ebay, and its a crying baby doll, and the bemused postman hands you a wailing package at 7.30 in the morning!

FaithHopeAndKevin · 12/02/2012 19:22

Zingzillas microphone - I hate it.

keepingupwiththejoneses · 12/02/2012 19:23

Everything my ds's have had has always an off switch until this Christmas. My aunt bought ds3 a bob the builder ABC press button thing that has no off button and is loud! DS has SN and it drives me nuts as he will sit there with it on his knee pressing the same button over and over. Grrrrrrrr!!!!!

countessbabycham · 12/02/2012 19:23

Good guess Grin

Molehillmountain · 12/02/2012 19:23

Light sensitive puzzles are marvellous when in a toy basket with a couple of dislodged pieces. Farmyard sounds every time you turn a light off!

another zingzillas microphone here, drives me bananas

YANBU

Molehillmountain · 12/02/2012 19:26

I'm making a list of gifts to give people with children in the future. Two lists actually. If they get something from the list including jigsaw books, recorders and singing caterpillars, then something is wrong in the friendship....

I take the batteries out of any toys which do not have an 'off' switch. I then make a mental note of who gave the toy as a gift and vow to get them back one day. Wink

Molehillmountain · 12/02/2012 19:28

My dc find things in charity shops and say "we used to have one of those!". Wasn't a zing zillas one, but a microphone all the same the other day!

nowwearefour · 12/02/2012 19:30

you will find that batteries run out and are basically impossible to replace in our house !

Magneto · 12/02/2012 19:30

If not an off switch then a volume button would be nice.

countessbabycham · 12/02/2012 19:33

Yama I do the "getting people back thing too".

Revenge is a dish best served cold....

SalmeMurrikAgain · 12/02/2012 20:02

Skimming down the page, I misread the title of this thread as 'noisy torys'. Either way, YANBU.

Molehillmountain · 12/02/2012 20:06

Ha, without saying anything of my politics, you're not wrong Wink

I took my revenge on dh's neice at Christmas by buying her baby some bip bop binging v tech toy for her baby. She bought ds a recorder when he was 3. She was childless at the time.

Kveta · 12/02/2012 20:11

YANBU!

or a mute button. bloody things. We have 1 tolerable one (follow me fred, he's gorgeous :o)

We also do the revenge thing, so can anyone recommend a really annoying toy to give to my sister in revenge for the nursery rhyme playing dog rattle which never shut the f**k up?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 12/02/2012 20:11

Haha you should experience turning the lights off in a toy shop at the end of the day. Practically the whole shop erupts in sirens and nursery rhyme songs!

Always remember locking up the stockrooms a few years back, another member of staff had unpacked a new toy, a teddy bear that said in a cutesy childlike sing song voice "This is my tummy, tickle me" Had never heard it before in my life and it piped up as soon as I switched all lights off. I've never ran down those stairs so fast in my life! Grin

Chubfuddler · 12/02/2012 20:13

Dd was bought some monstrosity which just said "peekaboo I can see you" to me as I was switching off in the playroom. I hadn't even touched it.

Molehillmountain · 12/02/2012 20:15

Kveta-a jigsaw book would be less obvious revenge but they are just as irritating. The jigsaws are never the right level to match the story and the pieces fall out all the time. (laughs wicked laugh Grin)

Longtallsally · 12/02/2012 20:15

Lol Salame - I misread it as "noisy boys" Smile - oh I love mine so much when they are asleep . . . .

Kveta · 12/02/2012 20:16

:o it's for a 1 yo, will reserve the jigsaw books for when he's older

Molehillmountain · 12/02/2012 20:17

Btw-revenge should be more forthcoming when someone with children gives annoying toy. Before I had dc I knew no better Grin
