To be annoyed by louise redknapp double dipping?

In practically every episode of Something for the Weekend Louise Redknapp double dips her straw in the cocktail drinks. Then poor Tim has to taste the drink after her. It is soooo annoying. Grrrr! and Urghh!

I thought the Size Zero project was very worthy, but in the end I didn't care much about her findings, because (a) I had already worked out for myself that pressure on young girls to be Size Zero is A Very Bad Thing; and (b) she has size zero charisma.

I certainly wouldn't do her FiL.

LittlePandaBear · 12/02/2012 15:35

Well yes I will feel sorry for Louise if Harry starts to resemble his dad when he's older.

But there are so many more "slebs" to blast on here rather than Louise. TOWIE?!

LittlePandaBear · 12/02/2012 15:36

Ooops, I mean Jamie!

Sparklingbrook · 12/02/2012 16:08

She would be ok on TOWIE. She would fit right in plus I never watch it. Then I could have Sue Perkins on SFTW and I would be happy. Oh and get rid of Tim Smug Doofus.

maybenow · 12/02/2012 16:11

how can you double-dip a straw? i mean surely the end in the drink is not anywhere near her mouth? i don't understand.... Confused

rhondajean · 12/02/2012 16:13

Jamie is already going jowly if you look. And I hate men in cheap suits.

Sparklingbrook · 12/02/2012 16:15

LR puts the straw in the cocktail, has a huge slurp and some of her spit inevitably goes in it back down the straw. Then TJ sticks his straw in and has a slurp. That's what usually happens, I didn't see this morning's.

LineRunner · 12/02/2012 16:23

So she's salivating down the straw?

Sparklingbrook · 12/02/2012 16:25

When you stop sucking on a straw the liquid goes back down the straw taking some of your spit with it.

maybenow · 12/02/2012 16:33

erm... so what do you want her to do? clearly the show set-up is that they both taste the drink.. otherwise why doesn't the barman serve them one each? it's not her fault Confused

Sparklingbrook · 12/02/2012 16:36

Perhaps Tim could have first slurp one week. Grin Then she can have his spit. (or 'backwash' as it's called in this house)

LineRunner · 12/02/2012 16:40

We all swig out of the same juice carton here.

Sparklingbrook · 12/02/2012 16:44

Ooh lots of backwash in there Line. Grin

chocohen · 12/02/2012 16:46

LOL @ taking turns being first to slurp!

Yes I agree the barman should give her a new straw for the second drink. You cannot totally blame him though as the main problem is that she puts the straw in the first drink, takes a slurp then LICKS the end of the straw before putting the same straw in the second drink. Meanwhile her co-presenter has to sample the drink after her. It is just not good form on a cookery show to be demonstrating such a poor level knowledge of basic hygiene.

AYBU? re: Louise Redknapp...nee Nurding.

NYANBU.

Unfair really as we'll never know her, but I do have a wholly irrational dislike of her and her Jaymeee for some undefinable and unexplained reason. (ditto Fearn, Holly, and Kate...)

Sorry Louise, et al.

Sparklingbrook · 12/02/2012 16:49

You forgot Tess 'Dead behind the eyes' Daly Previously Grin

I have also read that Something for the Weekend is being axed at the end of its current run. It is linked to budget cuts in daytime viewing apparently. I think this is a shame as I quite like the mix of subjects and guests they have.

Mind you I am not a great fan of Louise Redknapps interviewing and presenting skills. In fact the guest presenters that cover while she is not there are usually much better. If the show were continuing this is one thing that I would hope they change.

I'm not a big fan of daytime telly but I love sometimes being on MN simultaneously with MNetters critiquing 'Aemon' Holmes and Ruth. And shit like that. Rather heart-warming.

It mkes you appreciate the smooth excellence of presenters like Philip Schofield. It's not easy. It just looks easy when they are good.

scottishmummy · 12/02/2012 17:24

In sure poor tim will get over it
Some shared saliva won't kill him

scottishmummy · 12/02/2012 17:27

I do find Louise annoying
Agree guest presenters usually better than her

Sparklingbrook · 12/02/2012 18:03

I hope Tim doesn't get over it for he is a knob. Grin
