to hold kids' birthday party on a Sunday?

My dd (soon to be 6) and ds (soon to be 4) want a joint party. We have a great venue - church hall with huge garden and a kitchen. We are having a science show, so garden would be good for releasing a rocket. Trouble is, it's only available on Sundays in March and Earl April. Would it be weird to have a p arty on a Sunday rather thaN a Saturday? Dh thinks it would be...

Its fine having it on a Sunday - DS1 has had most of his on Sundays and always had a good turnout.

No, you have the party when you can have a party. DD is going to one in a couple of weeks.

Not in the slightest. I don't really know why your DH thinks it would be a problem . I have been to plenty of kids parties on a sunday. Personally I prefer sunday parties to week night ones.

We have had (and been to) parties on both days. I don.t get why a Sunday should be weird....

No problem, but try and avoid Mother's Day. DD once had a party on Mothering Sunday, when I hadn't realised ........ And Easter, I suppose.

It's not like they're going to get blitheringly drunk and need a day in bed with a hangover before they go back to school.

DD going to a party tomorrow 3-5pm, great time and great day. Saturdays can be a pain due to DH working and having 3 children with things to do and morning parties on any day are a pain to be organised.

I have ordered a present for the party tomorrow but it hasn't arrived. This is the first party DD has been invited to (Y3 new school)

We only have an Asda that we can get to tomorrow and I hate buying presents from there, would money in the card + an iou of the enroute present look really rubbish? I know the children won't mind but what will the mums think? I work during the week so haven't been able to meet the mums properly yet.

We have often had Sunday parties. I need the Saturday to organise everything! As long as it's just a couple of hours long I don't think people mind at all.

We went to our first Sunday party a couple of weeks ago and it was great! They had it in a hall. Would advise choosing the time wisely to avoid clashing with church goers though. Afternoon probably best.

Sunday completely normal. I'd say 40% Sundays, 40% Saturdays, 20% the middle of the week (DD went to one last evening after school).

I prefer Sunday parties - My DDs have hobbies on a Saturday, so Saturday parties are a PITA for me.

We've had Saturday and Sunday parties - Sunday has been a problem for some of the DDs' friends because of religious commitments, so we've opted for mostly Saturdays now. We have two American bases nearby, with children who go to the local schools, and the Americans do tend towards the very religious.

Personally I think it's mad to think that your DC can't miss the odd session in church, but it's their life and their choice so we've adapted so that 1) these children don't miss out and 2) the DDs don't miss out on having their friends attend their parties.

I do prefer Sunday parties, Saturdays are mad for us.

I have booked dd's 6th bday for mothers day again ( did it on mothers day last year as well ... only day hall was free )

mums loved having 3 hours to themselves on the afternoon after being spolit by the kids all morning.... I even made myself popular by hanging onto to a few siblings as well as the invited kids so the parents could have a nice break.
