obviously I am, but if you listen to any conversation, you can almost guarantee that the word obviously will feature. And what's worse, whenever I hear it being used, whatever is being said is not obvious.

:o

WorraLiberty · 11/02/2012 14:43

Well yeah obviously

AlpinePony · 11/02/2012 14:46

Well obviously the people you're talking to are assuming the point doesn't require further clarification. ;)

GrittersWifeAndProud · 11/02/2012 14:48

YA obviously NBU

TroublesomeEx · 11/02/2012 14:48

Ha that's my DH's pet hate! "Now why is that obvious?" usually said in response to contestants on programmes such as Deal or No Deal. "so what would that amount of money mean to you?" "Well obviously it means my mum can get her hip replacement done privately". I don't know you from Adam, it's not fucking obvious!

Mine is 'actual'. As in "So I was actually peeling the actual potatoes." Often heard on TV programmes by people who are trying to make themselves sound more intelligent than they 'actually' are and are failing miserably!

maxpower · 11/02/2012 14:51

folkgirl your DH obviously understands the problem Grin members of the public on TV are by far the biggest culprits

FreudianSlipper · 11/02/2012 14:51

i love the word, so obvioulsy i use it often :o

nickelDorritt · 11/02/2012 14:52

obviosuly, i don't normally use the word.

I use Obv instead.

but, obviously, that's obvious.

theincredibequeenofwands · 11/02/2012 14:56

My opinion should be obvious.

So I obviously won't answer.

[poking out tounge emoticon]

TwoStepsBack · 11/02/2012 15:00

Folkgirl Actually is usually preceded by "Like"

"So I was, like, actually peeling the, like, actual potatoes"

Grrrr

maxpower · 11/02/2012 15:04

theincredibequeenofwands · 11/02/2012 15:17

My DP (before we were together) used to say 'basically' all of the time.

Seriously. It found it's way into every sentence.

Hmm
TroublesomeEx · 11/02/2012 15:18

Yep that's another.

silverbay · 11/02/2012 15:33

Oh, gosh, yes, OP, this gives me the screaming abdabs.

A woman on Radio 2 Jeremy Vine the other day

"well, obviously, I had 2 children aged 4 and 6, and, obviously, I was made redundant, so, obviously, I had to sell my car..." or words to that effect.

and I get it at work all the time "my dad, obviously, has died" "I'm going on holiday, obviously, to Dubai"

AaArrrggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh fuck off you cretins

catgirl1976 · 11/02/2012 15:37
