to be a bit confused about DH's reason for not going away?

DH is usually life and soul of the party. A joker and always popular on nights out.

He instigated a meet with his friends the other week - whose wives and partners I get on really well with. Often I find their company better than some of my friends - and within the group there are children similiar in age to ours.

It was suggested we all go away for the weekend. UK based.

DH seemed really keen, it would have been a walk/pub/meal based kind of jaunt. Which we've enjoyed as a couple in the past.

One couple has started the ball rolling, but DH has said he doesnt really fancy it now. His reason - they will bring their dogs.

Now I don't like dogs am scared of even the tiny weeny ones if I'm honest! but DH does and fusses said couples dogs all the time. But, my fears aside, I don't have a problem with the dogs coming at all.

It just seems odd. If he doesnt want to go because he'd rather just us go away/save the money etc - why doesnt he just say that?

If it were my friends, I could understand as maybe he wouldnt want to spend a weekend with their partners - but they are his.

Do I just let the idea fade? Tell said friends we are planning a sunny hol and can't afford both or pursuade him it'll be a nice weekend away?

Could it just be as simple as he doesnt see much of DC and me as he works such long hours and would rather spend quality time with just us?

I'd take it on face value and not push for 'real' reasons. Could be any explanation at all for changing his mind. If he starts to avoid being with these other people on a more regular basis you might probe a little - see if there's been a falling out. But for a one off, enjoy the chance not to have to spend a weekend with a load of smelly dogs!

Grin @ smelly dogs! You may be right!

No fallings out as we are seeing them all again soon.

I'll just leave it and maybe push for a nice sunny break for just us instead :)
