It's important in some families.
I have never bought an anniversary card. Don't know the date of anyone's anniversary, not even my parents.
The first year I met DH I discovered that some families do things differently. DH is expected to buy a card for his parents and siblings anniversariesConfused
Since then he has forgotten a few times and MIL is not happy. She stopped speaking to us a few years back for about a month because he forgot their anniversary. Bloody weirdos Grin

We always get a card from an old friend of mine. We go back decades, have been good pals to each other in the past, supported each other through some crappy times. I think he's just pleased that I found someone as fab as dh after a few frogs, I always think it's sweet that he remembers our anniversary, but not particularly weird.

What IS odd though, is that we also get a card from this friend's mother. I have no idea why Hmm.

I got cards/chocolates and flowers from my mum for my first anniversary last week. Its an extension of her family though so surely that's okay?

A couple of friends text me too, just to show that they remembered. I doubt they'll remember every year though.

I have a friend of 10 years who gets upset if I forget her wedding anniversary. I didn't know her when she got married 24 years ago, but she still gets upset. I don't give a flying f..k about her anniversary especially as she is thinking of leaving him anyway!
I might get her a car IF she makes it to her 25th.

I often forget our own anniversary, and couldn't care less about it.
