In my defense we had frozen veg and gravy with it :)

My DD 13 looked at her plate and said "I thought we were having (homemade)lasagne
Am I a terrible mother for thinking "youre nearly 14, you have cooking lessons in school, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that YOU cook the (homemade) dinner

Did anyone else feed their kids frozen crap or am I the only awful parent on mn?
I really hope not, what did you all have for dinner?

Calm down love.

OnlyANinja · 09/02/2012 08:46

Fish fingers are nice. Why should they be "kiddy food"?

MissBerta · 09/02/2012 09:13

Was wondering when someone would pipe up about the 'Council Tea' comment.

imoanruby · 09/02/2012 09:25

Well it did sound incredibly rude.

loopylou6 · 09/02/2012 09:39

Yes it did.

sheepgomeep · 09/02/2012 09:42

'council tea' what exactly did you mean by this Hmm

if you mean council house tenant tea then I think you are well out of order. I can cook a decent meal thanks very much, We're not all incapable thanks

[grumpy bitch this morning,no sleep]

funkybuddah · 09/02/2012 10:34

Oh yeah mine only have breadcrumb food once a week.

Pahhahahahahahahah no they have it a few times a week and I'm not stressing about it. they have mountains of veg and either spud or rice with it, or even chips!

So no yanbu its all balance.

takingiteasy · 09/02/2012 11:58

Council dinner! That's what we call it, get your knickers in a twist if you will. Did I mean to be rude? Nope, do you mean to be so prissy?

It's a joke. I grew up in a council house, ate like this very rarely and we even called it that back then.

Lighten up - don't be so keen to take offense!

auntmargaret · 09/02/2012 12:13

Fair enough. No more Wine and posting on MN for me. :)

imoanruby · 09/02/2012 12:19

takingiteasy i wasn't being prissy but i have no idea in what context you use it at home...for all i know you are sitting in your mansion somewhere so it did sound rude...however now it's in context it's different Smile

Rikalaily · 09/02/2012 12:28

Mine had a freezer dinner last night too, so did dp & I. I usually cook from scratch but was knackered so thought sod it. The kids had popcorn chicken, supernoodles, peas & sweetcorn, dp and I had oven chips, reggae reggae chicken and brocolli.

sheepgomeep · 09/02/2012 13:04

takingiteasy sorry but you did give the impression that you were above us mere mortals sitting in your many roomed mansion Grin

I am feeling terribly grumpy and sensitive. lovely hormones coupled with a very bad night. Id take offence to a paper bag the mood I'm in!

sheepgomeep · 09/02/2012 13:06

I had home made bangers mash and tinned beans.

Its gonna be a farmfoods special tea tonight I fear, I really cannot be arsed to cook tonight

scrablet · 09/02/2012 13:16

Why have a freezer if you never use it to make a freezer tea? It's there to help you after all...

scrablet · 09/02/2012 13:17

And I know some only use it to freeze fruit they have picked themselves, and mini portions of cooked from scratched meals, but really.
