to want brown hairdye to come out brown

Every shop bought hair dye comes out very orangey whatever shade of brown I choose! At the hairdressers it goes a lovely brown. AIBU to expect a brown hairdye to dye my hair brown. Can anyone recommend a good brand as I can't afford time or money to go to hairdressers every 6 weeks to cover pesky greys.

Grey hair is actually very hard to dye. Have you asked your hairdresser what s/he recommends between dyes?

loreal excellence.. covers greys, doesnt fade.. get a darker shade if it is looking too orangey

If it's going orangey don't get one with 'golden' in the colour name as that'll make it worse. I believe an 'ash' or 'natural' brown will help reduce any redness/orangeyness in the colour.

I have the problem that brown dyes tend to come out really dark on me, almost black. Going to buy a hair colour tomorrow, so hoping to avoid looking like Mortitia this time.
