to thank MNHQ for taking the stance that having "number of views" data on a thread is just totally erroneous and potentially saddening to posters, unlike other websites which do?

Confused
ChaosTrulyReigns · 03/02/2012 15:10

Oh and, yes, I do not want to know who is browsing the thread and not replying.

Double thanks Mumsnet.

They weren't really going to do that were they? Shock

I am with you - they are both staggeringly bad ideas.

Saltire · 03/02/2012 15:13

Ooh is it wine o clock?

Thankgodforcaffeine · 03/02/2012 15:15

Hi Chaos! :)

I think I know what you mean. What prompted this though?

Tanith · 03/02/2012 15:15

I think OP is referring to Netmums?

There are a number of internet forums like that. I once got over 500 views and 16 'likes' and four replies.

OnlyANinja · 03/02/2012 15:23

Site Stuff.

I agree btw.

flywiththecrows · 03/02/2012 15:25

liking is a lazy way of responding.

I joined Netmums at the same time I joined here, I've probably made 500 plus posts on here in relation to my 6 posts on Netmums

But I viewed loads Wink

blondie80 · 03/02/2012 15:59

Didn't MN use to have the number of views beside the number of replies?

Maybe I'm thinking of somewhere else.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 03/02/2012 16:00

caffeine, I need faire little prompting for my musings.

Wink

Oh lardy Maryz, that's right - Likes would be the nail in the bucket.

I just agreed with you - that's not arseystalking. That's agreeystalking.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 03/02/2012 16:07

Ooh, I like having an argeeystalker. Are you cheap to keep?

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 03/02/2012 16:07

No thanks to any of the above.
BUT... I really like the moving emoticons over there.
You could inject so much more sarcasm into a post with a finger waggling emoticon, or the one tha falls over laughing. We don't need the huggy ones, but some sensible ones would be quite nice.

WorraLiberty · 03/02/2012 16:14

Saggy There's a little smiley on some forums that looks like this Hmm but it's making a 'wanker motion' with one hand.

I think I like that one the best Grin

FlyingLugholes · 03/02/2012 16:20

Yes, Chaos completely agree. Was thinking about that the other day strangely enough. The poor viewed stats on some other sites can make a thread look very dull and put you off from even clicking.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 03/02/2012 16:26

Worra, yes! That would be excellent! Grin

thepeoplesprincess · 03/02/2012 16:40

I used to post on a forum that displayed the topic view counter, but I never ever ever not once ever repeatedly clicked on a topic posted by someone I didn't like to give them viewer/poster level angst.
