To be a bit disgusted and insulted when guests don't shower?

I have a couple of regular visitors to my house who just don't use the bath or shower when they come, however long it's for. I know that both of them at home bathe on a daily basis and regard it as almost a bit of a treat at the end of the day, but they don't use my bath.

I should add that the bath is brand new and clean as a whistle - guest bathroom as well so no excuse that we are hogging it or anything. And I provide them with a fluffy towel as well and nice toiletries.

It's up to them of course but TBH I feel really insulted that they don't seem to want to use my bathroom and don't get why... Is it actually normal to visit someone's house and not have a proper wash, and I've never realised?!

Disclaimer: I have not yet met a single eczema suffer who smell, but I have met plenty of smellies who don't suffer from eczema.

what earthymama say i have bad eczema so i dont shower everyday i cant as it makes me skin too sore, its bad enough as it is! i have a strip wash and i rinse the flannel in warm running water, so not in a sink full of water, i wring it out so it doesnt drip everywhere and i also tend to stand on a towel or bathmat so that i dont drip on the floor. you know like when you get out of a shower you tend to stand on a towel or mat so you dont drip on the floor!

i dont smell, i do what works for me having spent all my life dealing with bad skin i know what i have to do to make it manageable.

some posters on here have been downright rude about those of us that dont shower every day or have a strip wash, its perfectly reasonable if you do it properly and it doesnt take as long as it does to have a decent shower and then dry off etc. depending on how you shower you wont get off allt he dead skin etc, unless you rub yourself with some kind of exfoliant, or a cloth, one of those shower ball material things (that i forget the name of!) then you wont be getting the dead skin of either! having a good wash with a flannel that i rinse repeatedly in running water does just a good a job. but then your skin is coming off all the time anywya, more will come of as you dry yourself and in your clothes during hte day, but you dont get changed every hour because your skin is coming off! i wash daily, i wear clean underwear and clean clothes daily, i wash my towels and my bedsheets regularly and i DONT smell just because i dont shower everyday.

(4madboys - just an idea - have you thought about getting a water softener for your house? Bit on the costly side, but softer water might be nicer on your skin? Or do you live in a soft water area already? Not that I give a stuff about how often you shower/wash - that's entirely your prerogative - just wondering if the soft water might make it nicer when you do :))

tbh it doesnt seem to make much difference, having lived in hard and soft water areas.
the only time my eczema has cleared has been when living abroad, cyprus, the climate there seemed to suit my skin.

its certainly something we would look into at a time when we could afford it tho.

this might interest you, 4madboys. Aluminium sulphate may exacerbate your skin too - softening the water wouldn't help with that but a water filter system would (but again, the cost implications!)
