To wish he'd pick his OWN fucking cards?

DH works in a family business. He's at his parent's house every day (as that's where the office is) and therefore if there's anything he needs his mum gets it for him because he's full of excuses why he never makes an effort "too busy"

This includes all Birthday, Mothersday, Valentines cards to me (and flowers that go with). I can cope with that but it REALLY fucks me off big time that this also includes our anniversary. His mother didn't marry me he did, so why the fucking fuck of wank can't he just get the card HIMSELF?! Every year I smile sweetly as I'm presented with some HIDEOUS fluffy bunny sickly sweet monster of a card (that in all honesty I'm even surprised his mum didn't write out for him)

God I hate it. It was our anniversary recently and this has been bugging me since and now I have PMT I'm ready to explode in a puff of smoke.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

Nope.

salempickles · 03/02/2012 10:28

No your not BU, Especially with the invention of moonpig and funky pigeon (ahhh love that advert!), it would only take 2 mins to go on and pick 1 himself, doesnt even have to leave his chair!

I once got flowers "of my dp", i knew they'd come from his mum as some of the roses had snapped and she'd sellotaped them back together, i pulled him up on it though and he was so ashamed at what she'd done, never asked her to do anything again!

Thanks Sea Cow.

I feel sorry for his mum too. She's like his bloody PA. When it comes to her birthday (or any other family birthdays and occasions) I then become his card bitch.

You've probably worked out family business ISN'T a card shop....

My DH does this

I asked him to get his own cards one year. For valentines day the year we were getting married a received a 'fiancée' card that was black with a
Red heart on it.

I was Hmm this looks quite masculine...

Opened it and the verse said 'I can't wait to marry a man like you'

Cue Angry rage!!! We laugh about it now but I will never let him forget it now not be bothered if his mum picks
My card lol. I think he did it on purpose lol

fedupofnamechanging · 03/02/2012 10:34

Cards are such a personal thing and there's no point having one, if it's been bought by your mil.

Tell him to buy it himself or you don't want one. I would have a serious discussion about how much this pisses you off. If he doesn't care enough to change what he is doing, then you have bigger problems than just cards.

It's very childish to get your mum to buy your personal items. Perhaps he should work elsewhere and grow up a bit. working for his parents is enabling him to continue in child mode.

why am i singing funky pigeon . comHmm

salempickles · 03/02/2012 10:40

Cos its funky wooo Grin

yep sellotape and a special dash of silver spray paint across the whole bouquet ! so jazzy, her niece was a florist who obviously used the leftovers she had on valentines day and sellotaped them together, the next year he took the time to do an oil painting of me and made me a cake, i hated both, hes a good painter but i looked massive and i didnt like cherries. hes never bothered since!

You've got to see the ad again, if only for his funky trainers he wears.
