Hello, hope this is OK...
I want to ask some questions about applying for social housing, on behalf of my sister who is in a difficult situation.
I thought there might be a 'Housing' section on here, but I can't see one.
Could anyone please advise me where to ask? Thanks!

Even Chat, if in doubt.

Why don't you ring your Sister's local Council?

I'd say that's your best bet.

I thought Property was more about doing up property... maybe Chat is the best place then, thanks!
WorraLiberty - I have given her the number for Shelter, which I think should be her first point of contact. But I wanted to ask around too, as she may find it difficult to speak to Shelter.
I've also suggested the Housing Office for local council, but she wants to get on a list out of that area, so they may not be much help there - as I guess different councils and HAs will have different rules.
She's with my parents in town X, but things have become untenable with her living there (MH related), and she'd like to move to towns A,B,C or D.
I'll post on Chat - thank you all for taking time to reply!

Normally you have to apply to the LA for your current area as it is their responsibility to assess your sister's housing need. Your sister can choose the area in which she wishes to be rehoused. The information is shared between LAs and she will be placed on the appropriate waiting list.
