To have had enough of stepping dog poo?

BroomForMyChin · 02/02/2012 12:48

Sorry another dog poo thread.

I live on a small quiet street, which is sort of cut off from the main street and only people who live on this street (or are visiting) come down here.

There is always dog poo on my street an up until now I wasn't sure which dog was causing it. I have recently discovered who the culprit is.

AIBU to have had enough of stepping in poo every time I leave the house? It's disgusting!

WIBU to pick the poo up and return it to its owner? Or should I do the polite thing and have a quiet word with the woman who keeps sending her dog up to our end of the street to do his huge poo's?

Have a polite word with the culprit. If that doesn't work you can report her to your local council.

There's no excuse for this really, everyone knows you're supposed to pick up after your dog.

jade80 · 02/02/2012 12:51

Knock and ask politely once. If she doesn't sort it after that, either bag them up and return to her doorstep in a burning paper bag, or make little paper flags and label them with 'property of the dog at number 36' or whatever. I don't have much patience lol!

BroomForMyChin · 02/02/2012 14:29

I like the idea of flags Grin

Next time I see her and she asks how the baby is I'll try and mention it to her. What should I say? How do you start that conversation?

watch where you are walking? Its how we survived before they stuck bins everywhere.

wouldnt mind but you say theres poo there every day.Are you a bit slow

BroomForMyChin · 02/02/2012 16:32

I have the baby in the sling most days and sometimes can't see my feet. Also it's not as though I'm in a field or even a park, it's on my own street.

Did you mean to be so rude? Are you seriously condoning leaving dog poo around?

flywiththecrows · 02/02/2012 16:35

I've not stepped in dog poo for years!

Have a word with the woman, if that fails then get on to you local council.

flywiththecrows · 02/02/2012 16:36

and I haven't been able to see my feet for years Grin

BroomForMyChin · 02/02/2012 16:36

Which dept of the local council? Does anyone know?

G0ldenbrown · 02/02/2012 16:37

I recently started taking my dog to a new field and was horrified by the amount of poo just left there. There is NO excuse. Perhaps just pop round with some poo bags for her? When I see people not picking up I offer them a bag as " it's horrible when you forget your bags isn't it?"

TimothyClaypoleLover · 02/02/2012 16:39

Perhaps you could reply to the culprit "baby is fine thanks, although I am getting very narked by all this dog poo down the street. The neighbours and I have been talking about getting the council to investigate, what do you think?"

Hopefully she will then stop but at the very least she will be aware she is pissing people off.

ladywithnomanors · 02/02/2012 16:40

I wouldn't even bother having a quiet word with the owner - just report her. She must know what her dog is doing. It's just lazy and irresponsible on her part.

BroomForMyChin · 02/02/2012 16:42

That's a good idea timothy. Going to give that a go next time she stops to annoyingly poke DD in the face have a little chat.

I am sick of this too! The school run is becoming a dog-poo avoidance run Angry

We live in a big estate, it would be impossible to pin point who it is.

Every morning, fresh crap is laid out and by the time we get there there are usually bike/pram tracks through it. I stood in some last week I was not impressed!

It's getting worse and it genuinely makes my blood boil!! I have a dog, I have poo bags. If you don't want to pick up dog shit, don't get a dog FFS!!!!!!!!!

There is yellow spray paint highlighting the poo outside a school about a mile away, so the council is aware (or it's a really pissed off resident?).

Don't bother speaking to her, just report it. She's ignorant and selfish.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 02/02/2012 16:49

Yanbu, my son stepped in a huge pile the other night, his trainers were so caked in shit they ended up in the bin . His hands also got covered in shit as he tried to pull them off before I could stop him, he then got upset and tried to lick the shit off his hands ( he has SN ) I had to put a carrier bag over his trainer to pull it off, great fun Hmm

The filthy bastards just don't care, how anybody can think it's ok to leave piles of shit in there wake is beyond me, and those who allow there dogs to shit in playing fields etc should have harsh punishment Angry

BeautifulBlondePineapple · 02/02/2012 16:50

I'd definitely have a word with her if I were you....and it wouldn't be a quiet or polite one! If she doesn't stop doing it then take photos and report her to the council.

That is what I'll be doing to the disgusting person who keeps leaving the dog poo on the footpath beside my house when I find out who they are.

nannipigg · 02/02/2012 16:50

I am a dog owner and I hate stepping in dog poo, especially when I always pick up after our pup. I would have a word with the woman concerned and if that doesn't work post it thru her letterbox!!! (just joking!!)

bochead · 02/02/2012 18:57

No you aren't my sons school is on the foulest street I've ever seen! Why the council wardens can't patrol it I'll never know. It's odd cos it's in the "naice" bit of town according to the estate agents but I'd NEVER buy a home on that street if I won the lottery - much prefer my "poor" estate where at least the residents are clean!

I'm a dog owner but think letting your animal foul willy nilly where you KNOW there are young children walking through it 2x a day is the lowest of the low. It takes 2 secs to bag & bin it.

SecretMinceRinser · 02/02/2012 20:01

YANBU. The road leading up to my daughters school is often so covered in dog faeces that you have to walk in the road. I would report it if I knew it was a regular but it's clearly a number of dogs and I've no idea which ones. I find that people tend to pick it up when there are others around.
I am going to go against the grain and say don't have a quiet word. If she carries on after and you have to report her she will know it was you. Just report her - she knows what she is doing is wrong and deserves the fine imo.

peppersaunt · 02/02/2012 20:18

Just like to add people who bag the poo then just drop the bag on the pavement (I, too have had to throw out shoes -ugh!)

canyou · 02/02/2012 20:22

I have 3 dogs and this makes me so Angry it is not hard to clean up after the dogs
And best poo bags are aldi nappy bags cheap and nicely perfumed Grin

BroomForMyChin · 02/02/2012 20:56

About a year ago a sign appeared at the bottom of our street saying there is a fine for dog fouling. I'm wondering if someone complained before and then they put up the sign. I shall be ringing the council in the morning. I want it sorted before Dd starts walking, I don't want her not to be able to walk on her own front street.

OP posts:
arghmyear · 02/02/2012 20:58

Tell the council who it is and they will be caught if you can give the time when they will be doing it.

arghmyear · 02/02/2012 21:01

Also agree don't bother speaking to her personally.

Anyone who lets their dog do this is antisocial and untrustworthy so there isn't any point
