Inspired by this story

Perfect illustration that good deeds can be rewarded.

The ex wife sounds horrible. Judging from the deceased's upset about the divorce it sounds like it wasn't his choice. If she'd stuck with the marriage for one more year she would have scooped the lot but instead the doorman and chauffeur are justly rewarded. Smile

I know this should be in In the News but it's a bit worthy over there Grin

Wow, she sounds like a Grade A bitch. Shock

And how lovely for them, they sound like they were both good friends to him.

WorraLiberty · 30/01/2012 18:59

I don't know how you can conclude she sounds horrible really.

Millions of people get divorced if they can't live together

Far better to do that than to stay with someone for their money really.

WorraLiberty · 30/01/2012 19:00

There really far too many reallys in my last post Blush

EmLH · 30/01/2012 19:00

Maybe because she called the people that worked for them bums?! She sounds horrendous!

SarahStratton · 30/01/2012 19:02

Precisely, she called 2 loyal employees 'bums'. No nice person would do that.

WorraLiberty · 30/01/2012 19:03

I'm not sure how to read the whole bum thing.

At first the paper made it look as though she was calling the men he left it to bums...but when you read the entire quote, I think she's saying it's his money so he can leave it to the bums for all she cares as it's none of her business.

The bums meaning the homeless.

Northernlurker · 30/01/2012 19:03

Worra - I was going purely on the 'bums' comment Grin Sure she could be lovely.........

"He can leave it to whoever he wants," she told the New York Post. "I'm doing fine. I could care less.
"If he wants to give it to the bums, he can give it to the bums. He can give his money to whoever he wants. We're divorced. The man is dead."

I'm really not sure? Confused

But on another note, it makes me irrationally angry when people say "I could care less" Angry

EmLH · 30/01/2012 19:06

Hmmm, maybe it could've been taken out of context. I hope so because its really mean if not

kelly2000 · 30/01/2012 19:06

why did she get what she deserved. she did not want to be with him, and probably got a good settlement. should she have stayed with someone she did not love in the hope he might die and she coul get a couple of millon more.
besides he is the one who suffered, he was lonely after his divorce, his best friends seemed to be employees and he died young. it is very sad for him.

thepeoplesprincess · 30/01/2012 19:06

You can't say she sounds horrible without knowing what happened. For all you know he might've caught crabs of a crackwhore and given them to her.

And regrettable, this kind of thing is all too rare- hence it being international newsworthy. Loyalty and decency are hardly ever rewarded.

Northernlurker · 30/01/2012 19:06

I think if she meant the homeless she would have said 'bums' not 'the bums' which sounds more specific to me. If you follow the link to the NYP you can see she also said 'He could fk a nun. I couldn?t give a st.' - obviously too rich for the Telegraph! Grin

I don't know what to think of the wife really.

It sounds like the newspaper were hoping she would be outraged and demanding her share and contacted her hoping for a "that money is mine!" quote.

And so she's replied with "He can leave it to whoever he wants," she told the New York Post. "I'm doing fine. I could care less. If he wants to give it to the bums, he can give it to the bums. He can give his money to whoever he wants. We're divorced. The man is dead."

She doesn't sound entirely pleasant, but at least she's not claiming it should have gone to her.

WorraLiberty · 30/01/2012 19:13

With all that money in the bank I've no doubt he probably could fuck a nun Grin

Well ok...maybe someone dressed like one.

Northernlurker · 30/01/2012 19:13

I would LOVE to know about the settlement too

I just think the chauffeur and doorman come out of it sounding nice and she comes out of it not nice. Grin

Also the bums/homeless thing.

If she were English and meaning the homeless she would say "if he wants to leave it to the homeless" so perhaps "if he wants to leave it to the bums" is right. We wouldn't say "If he wants to leave it to homeless he can."

Although the more quotes we get from her the worse she sounds.

Who knows though, perhaps he was awful and she's reacting to this with a very extreme "I don't care" attitude. If it was a bad marriage and she's relieved it's over she might be going out of her way to seem brave and careless about it. I've seen SIL in a break-up saying "that man is out of my life and I'm fine about it" in quite an aggressive way before.

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 30/01/2012 19:16

Chauffeur and doorman do sound lovely. Smile

thepeoplesprincess · 30/01/2012 19:16

WorraLiberty

I give you... Hugh Grant.

SuePurblybilt · 30/01/2012 19:16

'I could care less' is one of those phrases that is wrong in English English but common in parts of America I think (am thinking Southerny mountainy bits. Like 'I don't care to' - nobody's used it since Regency times here but it's common there and means the opposite of what we think it should.
Course, I am basing that on a novel I read, I could be very wrong again.

WorraLiberty · 30/01/2012 19:17

But did she grant Nun fucking permission?

WorraLiberty · 30/01/2012 19:18

That's very nice of you thepeoplesprincess but where the fuck am I supposed to keep him? Shock

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 30/01/2012 19:18

I think she granted him self-fucking permission, with an item that would probably need a team of doctors to remove it again once he was finished.
