to think Huggies are rubbish?

I was tempted by Morrisons toddler event thing, and bought a pack of Huggies for DS4 a couple of days ago, normally we use the other big brand....

They leak a lot (even when there not much wee in them). They need changed more often, and they smell. These half price nappies have created a pile of washing which will equal the amount of money "saved"!

With my previous DS's I also thought they weren't a good as the other brand but I thought maybe they would have improved in the past few years!

YABU.

we used most supermarket brands, and the other big brand for a long time, then switched to huggies in a supermarket event, and have found them consistently better than all the others we have used. will be starting off with them for DC2, but will see what shape she is, and if they suit her!

different nappies suit different bottoms!

SchrodingersMew · 30/01/2012 18:31

Becaroooo Little angels? I used those when DS was in tiny baby nappies, they were great! Seemed to leak as he got chubbier though. :(

hazeyjane · 30/01/2012 18:35

for ds the best seem to be huggies, then tesco own and boots own

the worst are pampers and tesco value.

laurenamium · 30/01/2012 18:41

DD has pampers I also find huggies leak! And huggies wipes rip as you get them out the packet!

Wittsend13 · 30/01/2012 18:42

YANBU I hate them. I tried them and found they were bulky and just crap. I much prefer Pampers.

Becaroooo · 30/01/2012 18:45

Yes sm I have used them for both of mine (very different size/shaped children too!) and I think they are great for the price....I could get 3 packs for £10.

Was a bit Hmm tbh when someone recommended them Blush but they are the best IMO.

(ds1 was 4lbs 15oz at birth and very skinny and ds2 was 8lbs 4oz at birth and was very sturdy! Smile)

I use asda "Little angles" shampoo and bubble bath too! (2 x large bottles for £2.50!!)

YABU. Huggins have never leaked with DS, and they're not horrid and plasticky like Pampers. They're awesome. Perhaps it's your DC's bum that's the problem?

DonInKillerHeels · 30/01/2012 18:54

Ugh. Huggies. Stupid iPad.

keepingupwiththejoneses · 30/01/2012 18:55

I have found, after 3dc that different nappies fit differently on different children and at different ages. (wow lots of different's). I only ever bought them when the boys where around 12-18 months. Then for bed whilst potty training. To be honest with ds3 I found Aldi nappies to be fab, that was about 2 years ago and dsis swears by them now. Saying that though Huggies wipes are the most useless things I have ever used, far too thick and rip very easily.

seoladair · 30/01/2012 19:08

I tried Huggies once - I think my Bounty pack had a voucher for a free packet. They were just awful -every single one leaked.
For me the best are Asda and Pampers, and the Asda ones are half the price.

PaschaAndCustard · 30/01/2012 19:11

They are total rubbish. I'm currently working my way through about 4 large packs of Huggies pullups given to us by a friend who's child has outgrown them. Without fail they leak, they give him wedgies, they let poo out of the side and the top, he has double the amount of clothes a day. He is near the bottom of the weight range so not too small, just CRAP.

I can't wait to finish them so I can go back to normal nappies.

ReebleBauble · 30/01/2012 19:11

Ive always hated Huggies, both the nappies and the wipes and mostly used Pampers until DD started crawling. I find the active fit are terrible for leakage. So we've been using Asdas little Angels until recently when we were given a voucher to try Naturecare. Theyre brilliant! More expensive but my 13mo DD seems much happier in them.

Heres a link to a coupon for a free pack :D

imoanruby · 30/01/2012 19:14

YANBU Huggies are awful, i always used Pampers.

Kveta · 30/01/2012 19:15

oh, and we found Huggies wipes to be the only decent ones for us - hated all the flimsy ones with no moisture to them at all. So there is clearly a market for all the brands, hence them all being still sold!!

LadyWord · 30/01/2012 19:20

I buy whatever has the best deal going, which is sometimes Huggies - I like them. Vary rarely have leaks with any brand, but I haven't noticed them being worse than any other.

I flinch at buying Pampers but only because the name makes me squirm!

Huggies wipes OTOH are the only ones I like. They are soft and comfy. All the others are weird and fibrous.

BuckBuckMcFate · 30/01/2012 19:23

I loathe huggies.

hermionestranger · 30/01/2012 19:24

Huggins are crap. Used then in both ds and leaked like mad! Back to pampers for us.

Their wipes are rubbish too.

dandycandyjellybean · 30/01/2012 19:25

Anyone any experience of Huggies pull ups for night time? Always used Aldi brand pull ups but my ds is getting too big for them now. have just ordered a job lot because of the offer, and am panicking now.

cantgetlaidingermany · 30/01/2012 19:26

Like Huggies...hate pampers

osospecial · 30/01/2012 19:27

I tried huggies once and also found they leaked when nothing much in them, used about two from the pack & gave up! I know lots of others who say the same, i just tried them once when on offer but went straight back to pampers, which ive never had a problem with Smile

grubbalo · 30/01/2012 19:30

I stupidly invested in huggies before DD was born (I didn't like them much with my DSs either). I do agree it's to do with shape though - for huggies I think babies need chubby legs, whereas I've tended to have long skinny newborns!

She's done better in the huggies recently, but today I've been relieved to be able to use up the huggies mountain, and go back to pampers again.

south345 · 30/01/2012 19:31

Huggies always leak on my ds, pampers are the only ones that don't irrirltate his skin too but I only like active fit, baby dry leak after about an hour.

Sirzy · 30/01/2012 19:33

Huggies are the best for DS, pampers are awful. He is short and skinny!

splashymcsplash · 30/01/2012 19:34

YANBU

I tried huggies before I knew better and they leaked everywhere. I've tried various own brands but now just get Pampers online on offer as it is cheaper than own brand and works the best.

My dd was born a porker but it now a skinny mite. Tried huggies when she was little and porky but even then her legs weren't big enough. Wonder how fat babies have to be in order for huggies not too leak?
