The banker's bonuses are one thing but what about

organised crime? I don't agree with these huge bonuses bankers get but I don't think the police do enough about people who make money via evil means.

I know someone who does this and the public parading of their ill gotten wealth makes me sick.

It's just that the government has so much to say about banking bonuses - why do they allow criminals to be above the law?

What a silly OP. YABU.

Unless you are actually in the police force and actually know this to be true.

And if you know someone who is parading their criminality, why not report them?

perceptionreality · 29/01/2012 13:18

They are known to the police. I do know it to be true actually - I would not say it if I did not.

I know it is a completely different issue to banking bonuses but it just occured to me that there are a lot of things like this which happen but are not really talked about.

I'm sure the Police do the best they can with the resources they have.

I don't know why you're comparing it to someone legally obtaining a work bonus though.

YABU investigations into organised crime takes years and years along with lots of time and resources. How do you know that the police in your area are not building up a case against said person that you know is "parading their illgotten wealth" or that they have not already looked at said person and they are honest as the day is long?

southeastastra · 29/01/2012 13:28

and what about disorganised crime - there's alot of that about

perceptionreality · 29/01/2012 13:30

ok, just forget I said anything. It probably sounds very odd if you don't know anyone like this. When you are confronted with it though it is rather unbelievable.

oh no, sorry I didn't mean to give the impression that I am in the same camp as the benefit cheat speculators. Far from it.

The person has been in prison numerous times. They are quite well known.

I don't think there is anything more that can be done about it - I was just thinking aloud really - although criminals they have a relatively 'normal' life and the whole thing strikes me as bizarre. If I was married to someone involved in stuff like that I'd be very scared. I suppose I was thinking at least the banker money is not blood money (but you'd think it was!).
