AIBU to think the changes to the Frubes advert are hilarious.

Is it wrong to find it hilarious that the Frubes advert has been changed from "Rip their heads off and suck their guts out!" to "Pull their tops off and eat them all up!"? The PC police have struck again.

Now don't get me wrong, it was a bit weird before and my DDs (3 and 6) would both go "eeeewwww!" when they heard it, but they thought it was funny and it certainly wasn't keeping them up at night with Frube massacre nightmares.

But I guess a few folk had been complaining loudly. Did anyone here think it was too much as it was?

The original comes from the 'nobody loves me, everybody hates me, think I'll eat some worms' rhyme.

YANBU - me and dh thought it was funny it had been changed. The first one was memorable - the second doesn't really work.

They'll be banning Horrible Histories next!

It was only a matter of time before a child did what the advert said to a kitten or pensioner or robot. Thank evolution it's been stopped.

I dont like the new version. Cant believe people take time out of their lives to complain about something like that. I'm sure the original saying was the same when i was younger. What a surprise its only offended someone now.

oh i was going to do a thread on this, the new advert is CRAP, my 3yr old ds4 was most miffed when the advert came on today and he did the 'rip your head off and suck your guts out' only for him to be wrong as they have changed the wording 'rip the top off and eat it all up? how shite is that!

is it really a pc thing? i always thought the origional version was GENIUS advertising, whoever thought it up had it sussed as it was catchy and appealed to children of all ages, very memorable and a great advertising ploy whereas the new one

HOORAY! Hurrah, a triumph for political incorrectness! Frubes are back to having their heads ripped off and their guts sucked out.

But this is the first I've seen of that DM article linked to above - I must have left the thread too early. I was quoted by the DM and didn't know it! I feel so dirty....
