Tsunami: Caught on camera - AIBU to think this is voyeuristic?

I watched a few minutes of the Channel 4 programme earlier where they were showing footage that people had taken on the Japanese Tsunami. For a few minutes I was transfixed by the power of nature and the images shown. But at the same time, I felt that it was a dreadful voyeuristic, intrusive programme, effectively showing death and destruction on a mass scale for our entertainment.

I switched off.

What do you think?

If no one filmed it, no one would knoowhat happened and no one would understand the horror.

Whilst we are sanitising your mind, I suggest all war footage is burned! destroyed! so no one is offended by those nasty nasty images. And whilst there is a mass cleansing going on - how about erasing death camps too?

Life is shit and so is nature. Moreso mankind

Yes I can see what you're saying trois. Yes, it's important to view some horrific things so we can understand them. Nevertheless I felt uncomfortable about this programme, and wondered about its intentions.

I will need to watch this. My son also is transfixed by what happened - the power of nature, and the shock and tragedy of what happened. I will try to look at this and see what I think, but meanwhile I can see where you are coming from.
