Depends whether you want to use the pronunciation of the words's country of origin or the uk adapted version. As someone pointed out, Japanese has equal emphasis on syllables, so nin-ja-go, all equal stress. Same as ka-ra-te, but of course UK pronunciation would be ka-rat-tee, with a higher emphasis on RA. Talk to a Swede and they will tell you its I-kay-ya, not eye-key-er as British people would say.
