Lego fans will know what I'm talking about.

Why would you say NinJAHgo?

I am not prepared to hear IABU btw Wink

Oggy · 25/01/2012 21:12

An indecisive sheep at that Blush

Valpollicella · 25/01/2012 21:13

UniS · 25/01/2012 21:14

"nin jay go" in the school playground.

beachyhead · 25/01/2012 21:14

My 10 yo knows and he says Nin Jar Go......

We have a roomful of the stuff - no dusting allowd round the Nin Jar Go fighting pavilion or whatever it is called.....

beachyhead · 25/01/2012 21:18

Well just tucked him in and I'm wrong Grin, apparently now EVERYONE is calling it NIN JAGGO....

Is that better?

PattiMayor · 25/01/2012 21:22

Oh god I have no idea! I have just called it Ninjago because that's what it reads like on the boxes and then I spoke to my sister who has an older child and she said ninjahgo.

Perhaps it's a London thing Hmm

It's nin-JAY-go round here. It is northern round here.

deaconblue · 25/01/2012 21:29

Ds says nin jay go

girlynut · 25/01/2012 21:33

PattiMayor · 25/01/2012 21:34

lockets - Lego is Danish. I am not convinced by their authority on this (despite the fact they made it up :o)

"Leggo Ninjaggo "

to be followed in the same hushed tones by,
"whowillbeultimatelyvictoriousinthecosmicbattleforNinjadomination?"

timetosmile · 25/01/2012 22:01

that took sooo long to get the ^^'s right..

thisisyesterday · 25/01/2012 22:04

hang on though

if you try shouting it in a kind of Japanese accent it does sound like nijahh go

doesn't it?
or is that just me?
do you think that's what they're doing?

HoneyandHaycorns · 25/01/2012 22:07

poppadum is right, it's based on Japanese, and there should not be a stress on any syllable.

PattiMayor · 25/01/2012 22:08

This is most definitely my best ever thread. :o

On American TV, it is pronounced Nin-juh-GOW if that helps to confuse matters further.

Jagomum · 25/01/2012 22:14

Well my son Jago thinks it is named after him and therefore pronounced Nin-jay-go. He made a [bconfused] face when I suggested we call him Jar-go Smile

PattiMayor · 25/01/2012 22:17

mmeBucket

Who would have thought that three syllables had so many variants?!

OP posts:
IUseTooMuchKitchenRoll · 25/01/2012 22:19

Nin-ja-go.

But am I the only one that got confused at first with the O at the end because the logo writing makes it look like a Q?

Ds2 made me feel very thick when I called it Nin-jag-q

Tiggles · 25/01/2012 22:45

DS is adamanat its Nin-jaggo, Ninja-go makes a lot more sense though.

MardyBra · 25/01/2012 22:48

I went into Game before Christmas to buy a Ds game. I hesitantly asked for a Ninja Go game and some spotty youth less than half my aged patronised me beautifully by correcting my pronunciation to "NinJAHGo".

SarahJessicaParker · 25/01/2012 23:25

Don't get me started on pronouncing anything by Lego-I have horrific childhood memories of having the piss ripped out of me being teased mercilessly at primary school because my mum worked for Lego & had always called it with the "Danish" pronunciation of "lay-go"! Ds1 is now obsessed with it & she has tried to brainwash him into saying it the Danish way-I have put my foot down & will not allow him to suffer the same humiliation as me with cries of "it's LEG-OH u weirdo" etc am still working through some ishoos Grin therefore, for reasons as stated above, I am tempted to say nin-ya-go......but I am freak & ds1 corrects me with nin-ja-goBlush
