But not saying because it's not "PC".

"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the rich out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply the wealth by dividing it."

Ohhhh, I get it- this is revisionist again, isn't it?

You're wrong anyway- that's not what I was thinking.

ReindeerBollocks · 21/01/2012 21:24

Original Jamie - I ate all the pink/blue ones with hundreds of bits on first, now I only have the horrid square and coconut ones. I don't like them.

Anyway everyone's really thinking that a cheese toastie is the ideal Saturday night snack. It's just a shame it can be such a PITA pulling the toastie machine from the back of the cupboard .

whatdoyouthink101 · 21/01/2012 21:25

Sorry for punctuation errors, but after hard day at work, holding baby whilst preparing family dinner I only had 1 hand to cook/type. Less government, more help yourselves with no personal taxes for anyone is the gist, hong kong is a great example to follow

OP posts:
ReindeerBollocks · 21/01/2012 21:35

How many children do you have OP? How many hours do you put in at work?

Is there a quota of hours/amount of children that causes you to judge others so much? Honestly, just be pleased that in the current economy you are able to hold down a job, even while having a baby. Stop feeling the need to criticise others who you deem to be 'lesser' than yourself. And stop believing all the hype written in the papers about benefit cheats, they will write what they need to support the party that paid them the most.

YuleingFanjo · 21/01/2012 21:36

...or too much punctuation.

D0oinMeCleanin · 21/01/2012 21:43

Ooh maybe you, OP, will know the answer to my question...

Where are all the jobs for people to 'work hard' in in order to 'help themselves'? It's just I keep reading that there are far more unemployed people than there are jobs. Is this untrue?

dollymixtures · 21/01/2012 21:51

Am I alone in seeing the irony in someone using Hong Kong as a great example of self-determination and personal liberty?

As usual when someone starts banging on about how awful paying tax is I feel compelled to suggest you move somewhere without a functioning tax system like Somalia or maybe Greece cos they just seem like peachy societies to me Hmm

spiderslegs · 21/01/2012 21:55

Look, OP, we all (I think) know, there are a minority of people who will take the piss, they're there, they are, we all know & it's an emotive conversation, they're not quite human are they, the wanker spongers.

They like to be rent for generations in their uselessness & sponging.

I think they get their jollies surviving for years on sixty quid a week & sending their children to shite schools.

I'm no fan of high taxes & redistribution of wealth, the way out is a bloody good education - for all.

whatdoyouthink101 · 21/01/2012 21:56

Well I know of at least 5 people who use the benefit system as their 'business'. One family has the parents supposedly split up so the father has his own council house that is sublet privately for some extra income. The 17 year old daughter said 'I need some money for ...." the mother replied 'don't worry you're 18 next month and you can start claiming'. No one in the family works, they just claim and watch Jeremy Kyle all day.
Another pretended to be 'crazy' and climb up a crane drunk and go to the end and wait for the police to take him in to then play his 'craziness' so he could get a flat and better benefits, and now works cash in hand on the side so he can keep going to the pub everyday.

Others have worked side businesses undecalred for 10 years or more and say 'well if I get caught I'll do maybe 3 months in an open prison/holiday camp, and have saved £10k's so it's well worth it'

pennypencil · 21/01/2012 21:57

load of bollocks but also benefit-bashing generally so wrong and telling everyone to get jobs because THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH JOBS therefore not everyone can have a job anyway and it's irrelevant to say 'hard work' blah blah when there are not enough jobs to go round, a situation which is likely to get worse.

GirlWithPointyShoes · 21/01/2012 22:02

Oh stop moaning and be thankful you live in a society which gives us all the ability to prepare a meal for our families no matter what fate befalls us.

I'm glad you think your situation is completely unchangeable OP because unless you don't have a brain in your skull you would see how easy it is to end up at the bottom regardless of your situation.

I'm happy my families hard earned taxes go to help others. You come across as a heartless, empty headed twat.

TheWisdomOfSolomum · 21/01/2012 22:07

I'm sure plenty people think it, but possibly they don't say it, not because it isn't PC, but because they know they are being unreasonable to think it.

Generally though people who think like that, are not bothered about being PC anyway.

TheWisdomOfSolomum · 21/01/2012 22:10

whatdoyouthink101 that really made me laugh out loud Grin What company you keep, eh?

He's a mate of mine but this is still about the best, and poetic, debunking of "PC" . Because the very use of the phrase by people who are about to spout right-wing fuckery actually does my head in.

USE OF ENGLISH

The phrase ?politically correct?
is not at all what you?d expect.
But how has it been hijacked so?
I?m going to tell you, ?cos I know.

You?d think it should mean kind and smart
Radical and stout of heart
A way of living decently.
Well, so it did, till recently.

And then some cringing, nerdy divs
Sweaty, misogynistic spivs
Sad, halitosis-ridden hacks
all wearing lager-stained old macs
with spots and pustules and split ends
and absolutely zero friends
(Yes, living, breathing running sores:
The right wing press?s abject whores)
Were all told, by their corporate chiefs
To rubbish decent folks? beliefs
To label with the phrase ?P.C?
All that makes sense to you and me
And write off our progressive past.
Their articles came thick and fast
The editors gladly received them
and loads of idiots believed them.

You'll find that most who use the term
Will only do so to affirm
Sad, bigoted, outdated views
they've swallowed via the Murdoch news.

whatdoyouthink101 · 21/01/2012 22:18

I see how Hong Kong now being Communist run is against liberal democracy etc, but I was just commenting on a purely market driven perspective. They are actually less communist in this respect than even the USA as they have almost totally free markets, and look after themselves and so pay virtually no taxes. This experiment has been going on since the 50's, started by a British civil servant who is now an icon in the whole of SE Asia. They now make on average 1/3 more than us in the UK and this will keep growing as they pay virtually no tax they can compound their earnings to make more, thus getting richer and richer than us every year who are saddled paying 1/2 to the government.

YuleingFanjo · 21/01/2012 22:21

oooh Pandemoniaa you know Attila? can you tell him that his poem about frogspawn boy and the boy racers had me in ears. I love him.

YuleingFanjo · 21/01/2012 22:21

tears, not ears!

GirlWithPointyShoes · 21/01/2012 22:22

Pandemoniaa.

That. Was. Amazing.

Honestly it was... I cannot wait to show my Dad this.

whatdoyouthink101 · 21/01/2012 22:24

Why does everyone think this comes from the Daily Mail? I actually don't read newspapers anymore and haven't for years as they're full of pumped up BS and propaganda. I came across the quote on the internet.

My great punctuation is down to my 'free' comprehensive education here in the UK.

OP posts:
MilesJuppisasexgod · 21/01/2012 22:26

My punctuation, spelling and grammar are all top notch and I have a comprehensive school education too, OP. What's your point?

'Karl Marx has clearly inadvertantly killed multiple millions of people via USSR, Stalin, Trotsky (BBC), Chekov, Castro, Mao etc, etc. If someone had burned all his work before anyone could read it think of the millions who would not have died in the name of 'the casue''

Chekov??? Who was he? Confused
