I bought myself a gorgeous Superdry coat yesterday. Didn't know much about the brand but I liked it, I needed one and it felt good quality so I bought it!

Afterwards I couldn't help but notice that it was mainly teenagers wearing Superdry and when I got home my DH gave me a Hmm and suggested I was too old for it. although he has the fashion sense of Jeremy Clarkson so I don't tend to take any notice of his clothes-related comments

It's bugging me now though - should I be wearing Superdry when I hit the big 40 next year?

Its fine, dont take any notice of the boden brigade.
I have a superdry gillet and before it got really cold i lived in it, can wear it with anything.
I think anything is fine if its not emblazoned across the front

electricalbanana · 21/01/2012 16:17

coat looks warm and covers your kidneys (v important in my book)

but like others i was thinking you were referring to conti pads.....

eurochick · 21/01/2012 16:19

I like it.

I had my eye on a Superdry jacket only to find out that my husband's stepmum (who is approaching 50 but is very into fashion) had already got it. Grrr. I'm 36, btw.

BrandyAlexander · 21/01/2012 16:40

I am late 30s and have supedry t-shirts as they suit me. It is everywhere though so I am sure its time as a cool brand is over. Yanbu.

LaFilleSurLePont · 21/01/2012 16:43

I thought this was a thread about incontinence pads.Blush And for some reason I still clicked on it. I've never heard of Superdry.

cutteduppear · 21/01/2012 16:45

My DS (19) says Superdry is one of those brands that everyone at school wears so that it becomes really chavvy common.
She is above it apparently!

I don't know where that leaves you, it's up to you I guess. It might be along the lines of Roxy a few years ago in terms of popularity.

Really? Miniskirts are off bounds? :(

What if you have better legs than many 20 yo?

You purchased the jacket because you liked it, not for the name. YANBU

Haberdashery · 21/01/2012 16:51

Tres fashionable right now but brand name reminds me of incontinence pads or launderettes.

Whatmeworry · 21/01/2012 16:53

I have seen middle aged Dads wearing it

lou33 · 21/01/2012 16:59

I dont go along with the too old to wear something theory, the main thing is if it suits you and you dont feel ridiculous in it.

I have a superdry jacket and t shirt, the jacket has a small logo on the sleeve cuff i believe and the t shirt hasnt got one at all. My bf has a similar jacket to mine and a few hoodies and t shirts and they suit us both.

I am 45 and the bf is 40. If you like it wear it.

ggirl · 21/01/2012 17:47

I think hoodies look ridiculous on anyone over a certain age as well

BIWI · 21/01/2012 17:49

Wear what you want, when you want. All this 'am I too old/young' stuff is ageist nonsense.

anewyear · 21/01/2012 18:12

Im nearly 46, and knew what Superdry was...

only because my 15yr old neice asked for some Superdry boxer shorts for xmas Grin

BandOMothers · 21/01/2012 18:14

Are you me? I am 39 and keep looking at Superdry things...they have such nice shapes! I thought I was too old but apparently I'm not!

squeakytoy · 21/01/2012 18:17

I am 42 and I wear superdry tshirts because I like the fit and the style/logos.

Robinredboobs · 21/01/2012 18:20

I do like the coat style but the logo is awful. The Japanese is incorrect and actually doesn't make any sense at all. Very uncool - at least in Tokyo :p I only ever see people over the age of 30 wearing them and assumed it was a mid life crisis garment?

Raffiiscool · 21/01/2012 18:29

Superdry is such a funny brand with its poncy pseudo-Japanese characters.

You do know it is all made up - no more Japanese than you or me (well if you a Scottish like me!). It's all been made up by a guy from Cheltenham in 2003! He taped into the Retro American and cool Japan vibe and created a mishmash.

You are paying ££ for branding that doesn't even mean anything!

No offence, but every time I see someone in a Superdry coat the judgey pants come on!

Gingefringe · 21/01/2012 18:32

I'm 48 and bought a fairisle cardigan from Superdry last year - my 15 yo DD thought it looked fine on me. Great quality and washes well. You can hardly see the logo on it - I wouldn't buy their hoodies or t-shirts though - definitively chavvy.

pinkyredrose · 21/01/2012 18:44

Wear with pride!

Btw Superdry is a favourite brand for lesbians, so is Bench.
