to wear Superdry at 39

I bought myself a gorgeous Superdry coat yesterday. Didn't know much about the brand but I liked it, I needed one and it felt good quality so I bought it!

Afterwards I couldn't help but notice that it was mainly teenagers wearing Superdry and when I got home my DH gave me a Hmm and suggested I was too old for it. although he has the fashion sense of Jeremy Clarkson so I don't tend to take any notice of his clothes-related comments

It's bugging me now though - should I be wearing Superdry when I hit the big 40 next year?

TopazMortmain · 21/01/2012 13:48

AnyFucker · 21/01/2012 14:46

I have a Superdry shirt I bought for half price

I wouldn't have paid full price for it, but it looks great with jeans

My teenage dd is well jel Wink

AnyFucker · 21/01/2012 14:47

oops, I am mid 40's

Lueji · 21/01/2012 14:51

40 and love the coat.
Great for school run, shopping, etc.

I thought superdry was about deodorant. :o

ClaimedByMe · 21/01/2012 14:56

I'm 29 and wear superdry, startrail I even have a bright pink hoodie that I wear under a big thick coat, i love their stuff and I am not fashionable at all!!

catsareevil · 21/01/2012 14:57

YANBU. Nothing wrong with Superdry.

MrsBovary · 21/01/2012 15:02

I've just read about this brand on a teen thread and another thread less recently. It must be very fashionable?

The coat isn't my taste, but looks fine.

I haven't noticed Superdry when out and about, but those Barbour coats/jackets seem to be everywhere!

ggirl · 21/01/2012 15:06

yes you are
save it for the teens

ninedragons · 21/01/2012 15:21

Last week I saw a Mormon missionary carrying his Mormon leaflets in a Superdry bag. It is o.v.e.r.

WannaBeWildCosMyLifesSoTame · 21/01/2012 15:25

I really like that and would wear it regardless of the brand - I'm 38. Then again I live in Converse and apparently I'm too old for them as well so what do I know?!

ILoveOnionRings · 21/01/2012 15:29

I am 37 and have a few Superdry t-shirts, jumpers and shirts nothing wrong with them - good quality garments that wash well :)

JestersHat · 21/01/2012 15:31

Of course - wear whatever you like :)

Zondra · 21/01/2012 15:32

Yes.
Sorry.

Haberdashery · 21/01/2012 15:36

I like that coat. It looks warm and comfortable and personally I think it's quite stylish, too. But then I am a Superdry and Converse wearing 43 year old who lives in jeans and things that are probably much too young for me so possibly you may want to disregard anything I say!

henrythecat · 21/01/2012 15:38

All the kids at school (secondary) wear Superdry, I take that as my cue not to wear it, it is a little teenagery. But if you like it, wear it.

As others have mentioned, my main gripe with Superdry is their sizing - I complimented one of the girls at school on the lovely colour of her tee, and she said miserably that it was from the men's section in Superdry as she is too big for even the largest of the women's sizes. And this is a perfectly normal, sporty, 14 year old - appalling.

RuleBritannia · 21/01/2012 15:47

McNorton

Well, I'm older than your mother and I have a new, beautiful White Rock Snow Gear jacket.

Has the OP's jacket got an age range on the label? No. So people of any age can wear them. I would draw the line at wearing a mini skirt though.

manicinsomniac · 21/01/2012 15:49

I really can't see why not. I wear all those types of brands and have no intention of stopping at a certain age. I'm 27 now and I'll wear them until I don't like them any more.

I have 40 and 46 year old friends and a 54 year old aunt who wear holister, fat face, superdry, UGG etc all the time and they look great - those clothes suit slim, fit looking bodies, regardless of age. All of these people look around 10 years younger than they are and maybe the clothes help that, who knows!

bruxeur · 21/01/2012 15:55

Not too old. Bit plebby though.

TartyMcFarty · 21/01/2012 15:58

Like the coat itself, hate the logo on the back (that would apply to any 'designer' logo, but its being Superdry is a little bit worse!) Mind you, if us oldies wear the stuff it will lose its appeal to teenagers anyway.

southeastastra · 21/01/2012 16:01

i think having superdry blazoned all over it put people off, it's very chavvy Grin being logod uo

makes me laugh when i see middle aged me in it.

dmo · 21/01/2012 16:03

I love the coat and would wear it but i dint buy named stuff as i feel like a chav Grin

dustlandfairytale · 21/01/2012 16:03

Well my teenage son has now stopped wearing it because its "everywhere" so I would safely say you are fine to wear as it means its no longer just teenagers! All this stuff he has had has been of extremely good quality and that coat looks lovely so think you have got something you will enjoy and wear for years:)

WorraLiberty · 21/01/2012 16:05

I've never heard of Super Dry before (thought this was going to be a thread about deodorant)

But having clicked the link, I can see it's just a parka coat.

People of all ages where them so I don't know what your DH is fussing about.

southeastastra · 21/01/2012 16:07

middle ages MEN not me Grin
