In the process of having a right old clear-out, have uncovered a box of 'conversations' ie note-passing that I used to do with friends at school in my teens; we would basically pass a sheet of file paper back and forth between us in particularly boring lessons and discuss... stuff.
What an unbelievable little tick I was! If not whining or sulking, I was slagging off my mates' boyfriends and then complaining no one liked me. Mind you, the next time I start wishing I could be Young Again I will remember those scribbles and be very glad that I am not, in fact, 15 any more. Has anyone else got lurking horrors like this, old diaries or whatever?

Maths with middle names and my maiden name:

13043
4347
7711
1422
564
1110
221
43%

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh! There's no hope!

StealthPolarBear · 20/01/2012 23:27

I think you forgot to carry the 5
Which makes it 93%
I ahve a maths degree, I know these things. Trust me

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 20/01/2012 23:27

I have a box of 'notes' from when I was 14-15. Problem is, I only have the notes my friend sent to me (we were in different classes, used to spend each subject writing to each other!) So I have answers to my questions but no idea what I had asked.

Such inane ramblings.....I'm tempted to go and get them and see if there are any gems to share.

Goes to show, the yoofs of today who spend all the time texting are only doing as we did but they have better technology!

solidgoldbrass · 20/01/2012 23:27

Oh don't get me started on the letters (Where is the Scotsman File? That I will keep indefinitely of course).
Actually, that's something our DC will miss. Letters. Proper letters. I used to love letters and wrote (and got) loads. I have been finding quite a few love letters and indeed amusing correspondence from blokes I fancied and, while they wouldn't date me (usually moving to the other side of the world to escape me), would enter into penfriendship and be much more fun anyway.

I think when you get 996 you pour another glass of wine Grin

I think if you get 996 as a hormonal teenager you either call a seance with your equally easily freaked out mates, or you pour another glass of 20/20!

AgentZigzag · 20/01/2012 23:27

You probably did do a lot aqua, but it's your anxst who's written the diary and everything is just So Boring?

I'm worrying for you now Slinky.

TheSmallClanger · 20/01/2012 23:28

9 9 6
18 15

33% - it doesn't look good...

Actually, that's reminded me, we had one with the the word FLAMES involved, you had to go through striking out letters until you got the last one somehow. If it was 33% S, that meant 33% Sexual Partners. E was for Enemies, F for friends, M for Marriage, not sure about the other two.

OnlyANinja · 20/01/2012 23:28

I've had G&T and started counting DP's pretend middle names not his real middle names

44062
8468
121014
33115
6426
1068
1614
775
1412
553
108
18

I think that might be the longest calculation ever... and I think I prefer 108% to 18% :o

And I've also proven that it can be done without paper :o

I too remember FLAMES.

On recent experience with numerology, I'd better not have a go Grin

NotVictoriaBeckham · 20/01/2012 23:30

We have some journals that my dad used to have to keep in the school holidays, sort of as a homework exercise, this was like the early 1950s. My favourite is when he is describing his family and he says: 'My brother is very tall, about 6"7, and he is very handsome although not so handsome as I". ( for the record my uncle is about 5"6) We love winding him up about 'not so handsome as I' Grin

LeBOF · 20/01/2012 23:31

31%

Sad
Sl1nkyMalinki · 20/01/2012 23:32

Um it was Friends, Lovers, A??, Marriage, Enemies, S??

Ninja, you are showing off! Some of us are so ancient we only operate with pen and paper!

OnlyANinja · 20/01/2012 23:32

My sarcastic head goes Hmm at that sadface. Stop being silly, sadface.

OnlyANinja · 20/01/2012 23:33

I was using the posting box like pen and paper - I can generally add up two single-digit numbers in my head!

DonkeyTeapot · 20/01/2012 23:34

And now DD has woken up! Back soon (I hope!)

Sl1nkyMalinki · 20/01/2012 23:34

Numbers confuse my brain. They are safest written down solidly on paper where they can't shift about. I have ishoos with numbers.

Solo · 20/01/2012 23:35

I think you are supposed to keep adding until you reach a single number.

TheSmallClanger · 20/01/2012 23:35

31% here on standard, didn't do FLAMES as can't remember how you struck the letters out.

Slinky, S was Sexual Partners.

Sl1nkyMalinki · 20/01/2012 23:36

Ah yes, sorry, missed that upthread...

I got an optomistic 68%.

I've never been one for chucking all my eggs in one basket Grin

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 20/01/2012 23:40

my friends and I invented MPLIAB.

Mad
Passionate
Love
In
A
Barn

????? Hours of fun in English Lit class (and somehow I still got an A at GCSE!)

You listed 10 boys (5 you fancied and 5 you really didn't) and then your friend made a list of 1-10 and potential things to do, so

1.kiss
2.hold hands
3.go on a date
4.MPLIAB
5.punch
6.marry
7.bungee jump
8.throw off a cliff

etc etc

You didn't see the list and had to say 'Brad Pitt, 7' 'Brian Cox, 5'

Then hilarity ensued as you discovered who you would do what with Grin

garlicfrother · 20/01/2012 23:40

Did you write notes to your friends consisting only of initial letters? I suppose our interests were so narrow, the subject was obvious to everyone in the group, so a decent guess could be made at the words. We had a fierce Latin teacher, who was ace at decoding these notes when she'd confiscated them.

I didn't appreciate her genius until I discovered my 15-16-year-old nieces did the same thing, and tried reading them! Not a bloody hope in hell.

Sl1nkyMalinki · 20/01/2012 23:40

If I do it with the names we're known by and my maiden name then it's 78%. Not bad, but I'm sure I got over 90% for one of my crushes when I was about 15! Wish I knew where that notepad was now...
