In the process of having a right old clear-out, have uncovered a box of 'conversations' ie note-passing that I used to do with friends at school in my teens; we would basically pass a sheet of file paper back and forth between us in particularly boring lessons and discuss... stuff.
What an unbelievable little tick I was! If not whining or sulking, I was slagging off my mates' boyfriends and then complaining no one liked me. Mind you, the next time I start wishing I could be Young Again I will remember those scribbles and be very glad that I am not, in fact, 15 any more. Has anyone else got lurking horrors like this, old diaries or whatever?

My brother and his friend did an audio tape recording of their 'radio show' on a sleepover once (back in the v early 80's). It was hilarious but the best bit was that at one point you heard my mum calling "It's bedtime" up the stairs - in a real sing-song voice!

I wrote the first chapter of a 'novel' once, and painstakingly typed it up on a manual typewriter. It was full of untold angst, and my dad read it. Mortifying is not the word.

My brother and I used to have a "radio show". I think the tapes all got recorded over. I hope they did, anyway.

The tradition still carries on - DD and her friend go through stages of spending hours making videos that no-one is allowed to watch, apart from them. She also used to write very flowery gothic fiction about her imaginary dead boyfriend, but I think that's stopped.

SPB Our names are both shortened, plus I've been married before and still use my married name, so I have quite a few combinations to try. Maybe there is hope for us....

I kept a diary from the age of 8. A complete depressing diatribe. I often read and think Jesus what a boring childhood I had. I literally did nothing no clubs not many friends and the ones I had I tended to fight alot with. All I seemed to do was watch Starsky and Hutch Charlies Angels and Armchair Thriller to the point where I would talk about these in detail. The highlights were fighting with my brother and sister and what food I was eating.
Yet in my mind I was happy and looking back we were all the same. Hasnt done me any harm (she says rocking back and forward staring into space).
