My Mum was saying she felt sad because she couldn't arrange a 30th birthday party for me...

wibu to tell her it wasn't her job to arrange a 30th party for me. And it was a bit weird that she thought it was? Grin surely if I was to have a party and someone was to arrange it that was not me then it would fall to my dh or best friend to sort out? I mean I'm going to be 39 not 3. Confused

Disclaimer - am not expecting a party in any way shape or form. Though I may splash out and get a bit drunk merry.

you want to tell her she is a bit late Smile

QuietNinjaLamp · 18/01/2012 18:07

Ahh bless her Grin

Just tell her you'll settle for a party bag Lol

GirlWithPointyShoes · 18/01/2012 18:09

Have you made yourself a year younger for MN?

Cheeky.

Gooshka · 18/01/2012 18:10

I think it's really sweet of her to honest, I wouldn't describe it as weird. I'd be happy to have a mum who cared so much - my mother couldn't even be bothered to attend my wedding and it's vouchers in the post for Birthdays and Christmas Sad

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 18/01/2012 18:10

Could she arrange 'a' party and you arrange another one? (The one you actually want!)

Nagoo · 18/01/2012 18:11

The MN age doesn't appear to update. I think my DCs are still foetuses. Hmm

Nagoo · 18/01/2012 18:11

Why could she not arrange one? Let her have a go and then tell us all about it Grin

mumatron · 18/01/2012 18:11

I would flip out if my mum arranged a 30th birthday party for me.

Oh god now I'm panicking that she has! I will be 30 in april and she's usually asked me a million tomes what I want/and what I want to do Shock

I'm off to book myself a hotel somewhere very far away for that weekend.

blackoutthesun · 18/01/2012 18:13

it is sweet

my mum has to phone me up to ask how old i'm going to be...

fullofregrets · 18/01/2012 18:14

I'm pretending my 30th birthday is not happening. Denial is the way forwards.

StellaAndFries · 18/01/2012 18:16

I've pretty much organised all of my 30th birthday party next month, dp just has to pay for it now :)

notnowImreading · 18/01/2012 18:19

I pinched my parents' house for my 30th birthday party. T was great. My friend (top professional person) was sick in the garden. By the time I woke up the next day everything was miraculously clean Grin

Let her do it, I say, weird or not. Enjoy the mummy-love.

GirlWithPointyShoes · 18/01/2012 18:24

I agree, You're still her child whether you are 3 or 30.

QuietNinjaLamp · 18/01/2012 18:26

That's the thing though she won't do it cos she couldn't afford it, im also a twin and it would be a joint party and I'm 180 miles away from my mum and twin so pretty impossible. But I'd never expect my mum to arrange a party.dh maybe (again won't happen as he can't organise his way out of a paperbag) but not my mum. Tis weird I tell you!
I am lucky she cares I am not denying that.

Might go down the denial route. I am still 29 for another year apparently
